Picked up a Mappy today and found this artwork on the bottom of the cabinet. Anyone recognize it?

thats to bad they hack up good machines to make another why dont they just buy a piece of wood to cut instead of ruin another cab

A game wasn't hacked up for this one.. Or prolly not, as this was done at the factory as a cost cutting or way to use up cabinets that weren't sold.. I've owned a few Atari games that had parts of other cabs mixed in.. Same with Bally and midway.. Or hell, maybe an Op did it. But doubtful

i once tore apart a waterlogged and badly converted Astron Belt only to discover that it was built largely of scrapped EDOT parts.

Heh... one of our games had that same bottom... and I *think* it was Mappy. Next time I'm down at cwales place I'll freak him out and lay it down on the ground to see. :D

or cabs that were damaged either in assembly or shipping..

Coincidence? I think not!

We had a converted Mappy come into the shop painted green and it had a GT'98 in it with a trackball. It was missing the entire marquee top, otherwise I would have grabbed it and converted it back. My boss had me convert it into a 60-in-1 for a customer (with Arcadeshop multi artwork that I think sits too low but the customers loved), and when I laid it down to install the artwork, I found...

Wow. Got me curious about my Galaga.

So I tilted mine over and......

My Mappy had the same Solar Fox artwork and wood on the bottom.

Up at the Vintage Arcade Superstore in L.A., they had a Spy Hunter with art and wood from the Spy Hunter pinball machine on the bottom when I was there.

So, which other companies besides Bally/Midway did this?

Williams did it.. Ever see a joust in a robotron cab or vice versa?

I just sold a robotron that had a bunch of routed out sections around the monitor area.. Looks like it was a testing cab or it was a leftover and they made it into a robo.. No hidden artwork, but the robo pcb was a very early one that originally was built for defender then retrofitted for robotron.

my EDOT was made from pieces of another EDOT. I can see the side art in some of the normally non visible areas.

I also had a ikari warriors that was in the original cab (generic style cab that many games from this era were in but name escapes me now) At any rate the inside of the panel that the coin door mounts to has gauntlet art.

I picked up a Smash TV recently that has a panel facing in on the back made from a piece of Black Knight pinball side. It's factory painted over, but the raised letters still show through the paint.

The inside of my Double Dragon Taito cab has control panel braces that were cut from the sides of an Operation Wolf. Not as spectacular as those though!
