Artwork for a Multi Vector?

I have mine back at the top of the pile of projects. I have the old CP stripped off and am getting ready to drill the holes for the joysticks.
It looks like quite a bit of plastic will have to be removed in some areas of the joystick mounts to get the stock space duel buttons to clear.

I had a problem with my Dos Mame PC and it stopped booting to win98.
A re install with out format did not fix it. Dropping the hard drive into another system (same type) did the trick. I also now have the machine powering on and going right into dos / VM_menu..... and its working great.

Last things to do are to install the CPO get everything mounted and wired then work on getting the spinner setup and working. (i have not even tried that yet)

Playing a few games today (via keyboard) got me excited again :)

Only bummer right now is I am leaving out if town in the AM for 3 days.
 
Well, sorry for the delays. Here is a pic of the CPO on the stock SD CP with joysticks and spinner added. If you overlook the spots in the artwork I killed before getting it installed (don't ask) I would say it fits quite well. Only thing I see that could be changed is the cones on the buttons in the middle cover up the words.

That looks bitchen... though you should correct the text boxes in the center so they aren't covered... Oh how I'd love a VectorMAME...
 
I'm glad all of the buttons lined up. :D It did come out really nice.

HIya guys.. new to this thread. I gotta say this artwork looks amazing!

Is there a way to correct the start button text so its above the buttons
vs below? Looks like if you center the player 2 text between the two
buttons and the player one text above by the same distance it would
work out.

Who wants to sell me a ZVG card:) I am pumped to make a multivector
after reading this thread. Now I just need to find a space duel:)

Look great where can I get a CPO? Might be time to break the ZVG card out of the box:eek:

"spacies" did the artwork so any changes will need to come from him. (or someone other than me :) ) !
He posted a link to the artwork for downloading in this thread. He is also taking a small donation of you use it.
I gave the download link to www.arcadeoverlays.com and they printed them for me.

One thing we didn't think of was the diameter of those cone buttons! Doh, can you tell me the size of them and I will make the changes. I will also make the text above each button rather than below.

I have made quite a few changes to this revision.

1: I moved the spaceship because the bolt hole for the spinner goes right on top.
2: Added black around the all the text so the background doesn't show through. Makes it easier to read.
3: Added black around the Asteroids rotate icons
4: Added a stroked box around the thrust and fire arrows.
5: Added a black circle around the shields art so you don't see the background spikes.
6: Changed the shape of the red triangle below the spinner.
7: Moved the text Start/Select text so it doesn't get covered by the buttons.
8: Made the Major Havoc art larger.

That looks much cleaner. One thing that your comments made me think of is the asteroids icons.

Since Asteroids one player at a time, isn't it going to use only one set of buttons? The second thing is that you out the icons for everything except shield/hyperspace. It just makes me wonder if you can do without the text labels all together since the keys are the same.

Good points.

I haven't played many vector games, so you think keep the rotate buttons on the green side and the thrust and fire buttons on the red side?
Do any of the other games on the ZVG need the other buttons if I remove them?

Lets have a think about it before the next revision. Maybe someone can look at the CP layouts for all the ZVG games and come up with something universal rather than go this far only to change it. Once it is finalised I can modify everything to suit.
