I am unsure if my statement is correct but I am wondering if there is a possibility that this clone of taito galaxy wars is the last surving unit in existence?
Very low serial number.. uses a Black and White monitor with a mirror just like space invaders.
I have never seen another one anywhere.
It's unfortunate that the board and sound board is lost.
But on a good note I do know that the board is identical to other artic ATW games like scramble, space invaders etc . You can swap a card that has the roms on them.
Give me a yell if anyone has any artic ATW boards for sale.. or heck even a artic ATW galaxy wars.
Worst case scenario is I will just have to put a L shaped Midway space invaders in it with the braze chip.. it has galaxy wars.

I fucking love all of it

That board pictured is definitely a clone of Taito 8080 hardware, probably used in their Max Magic cabs. Totally different pinout though. Their use of separating the soundboards is honestly a solid concept, it's similar to how Sega did it with the VIC Dual hardware.
I'd throw a Logitec Invaders board in there if it's missing one and if you cannot find another PCB like that. Or a Taito 3-layer stack, but the Logitec set takes up less real estate. I'd probably whip up a conversion adapter in KiCad instead of cutting on the harness.

It's more than likely that there are other units out there, but if I had to guess, it's definitely not many.

I thought about a logitec , but its very important to remember the game is galaxy wars , not space invaders.
I dont think logitec cloned galaxy wars ?
In a week or so i am moving my machines into a new workshop , then i can do a proper photo and show the background and moon.
Indeed not often seen unit.. i cant wait to get her up and running !!!.

Man, that artwork is killer. Looks like it came out of the Universal art shop. Very cool!

Are you sure that this a a clone of Taitos Galaxy Wars?
Sideart and bezel artwork are clearly taken from Universals Cosmic Monsters, which is a Space Invaders clone.

It definitely steals their art, but that is 100% a Taito 8080 copy board in the photos.
Thing is, I believe Uni's Galaxy Wars is also a copy of the same hardware, isn't it?

That board was more than likely used for this. Their whole 8080 lineup.

Artic copied many games , and indeed the funny thing is they took the artwork off universal.. and the cabinet design off taito lol
I am moving all my machines to a new workshop this week.
So i will be able to do better photos , then we can have a look at the background , the moon and go from there.

I have 4 artic boards and i know one of them has space invaders pt3 roms , unsure what the other games are.
the weird thing is i dont think many of artics clones ever made it to mame.

Those I'd love to see pics of. Any accompanying soundboards in there, too?

Wow yeah, you can get a Galaxy Wars put together for sure with these. Definitely that one second from the left. I wonder how the soundboard looks lol
