dont know what I did. it had a weak but solid picture when I pulled it, I put a cap kit in it and cleaned a LOT of corrosion off it, connectors, neckpins, ect, and when I put it back in I got nothing. I redid all the soldier that I put on, cleaned the plugs again, ohmed the fuse from the back of the board (fuse is good), still nothing. 2 things, the blue cap on the neckboard in the pic, is it turned the right way (board didnt have a + mark, and I think I put it back in the same way the other came out, but not 100% positive), and the 4 wires running to the neck (green, yellow, red, blue) not positive but I believe the red/blue plug was reversed when I unplugged it. If you look close at the plug, you can see I have the wires running to where they are called to be, but the plug is backwards. Thats the onlt 2 things that stand out to me, what do I need to check now

on a similar note, Im getting ready to unmount and toss this broken tube, and I remember someone saying to keep something off the neck, what was it?

This may sound silly, but...did you plug the video input from the game's pcb to the monitor too? It's unplugged in your picture, that's why I ask.

in that one picture looking at the 4 yoke wires, one connector doesnt look plugged in. the yellow and green arent connected right. see? its a little offset.

sometimes after a cap kit, you have to turn up the brightness to see the picture.

ya, the pins coming out from the end of the tube are all mangled. they need to be straightened but BE CAREFUL.

between the sync connector, yoke wires and neck board pins, i wouldn't condemn your cap kit installation just yet.

yes, I unplugged it before I took the pic. I have a second monitor sitting on the bench that I plugged up to these power and input leads to verify that the incoming signals/power were working, they are
They're talking about the yoke and purity rings.

Pins look mangled, but the neck doesn't look broken
Ok, Ill figure out how to get them off. yep, bubble is broke off center of that one letting the vacume out. I take it if I can find another tube I need to use those same yoke and rings with the board

No, they are all connected, thats what one of my questions was about. Those connectors are offset to one side, with markings on the board reading green/yellow/blue/red right beside the plugs. When I unplugged them they were lined up, but the red and blue were reversed. When I reinstalled it I plugged it in backwards, to put the red on the terminal marked red and the blue on the one marked blue, thats the reason it looks offset

sorry, wrong tube, thats the broken one

Keep the yoke, toss the rings. Yoke matches the chassis, but rings belong to the tube. When you find a donor tube from a TV or another monitor, you can use the rings that are on the tube (and the yoke if the impedence is close, then you won't have to go through the convergence hassle).

Don't toss the rings. Some older tubes used cheap rings and you now find them being broken or have the tabs busted off. Sometimes people need a set of rings...

Good point. I suppose they could come in handy. I had a couple sets of rings set aside until just the other day when I finally decided to toss them. Watch, I'll probably need them next week....
