All,

Rather than clog up the sale thread for this amazing product I wanted to start a different help thread. I love the product and my next step is to create game lists I can shift back and forth on (because scrolling through 800 games on the Jamma cab is a bit troublesome).

It looks like Arpicade uses attractmode and there are config files for filters I edit? Anyone that can walk me through the easiest way to pick 20 games and have them in their own list?

I'm assuming I'll need to map a button to change lists while in attractmode as I doubt the software currently does it.

Sucks that no one has posted in this thread yet. I know a bunch of people have been posting in the for sale thread though. :(

I have no idea how to do any of the things you are asking, but I'm interested on what the answers are.

Thanks - so the short answer is that you need to plug a keyboard into the Pi and hit tab. This opens up attract mode options and let's you change things. There are also plenty of layouts available online to download. Sadly I haven't done any of this yet because I'm still working on my personal ideal game list.

I plan to document what I do (when I finally do it) to help make a tutorial for others.

Look at filters and favorites in attract-mode documentation.

You could create a filter for each game list. Then map a key press to the "next filter" control. And then map a button to that key press.

Or you could just use favorites. It's the same process.

EDIT: The other thing to consider here with all of this customization is that if a new release comes out and you install it, you will lose all of it. The simplest method is to just not drop 800 roms into the folders. Only put in what you are going to play. That should bring your list down significantly. Or organize your roms into folders and then just drag and drop the roms before you fire up the ArpiCade. It builds the game list dynamically each time it boots.

Something I'd like to do is make a Time Pilot/Gyruss frontend with a cool video and maybe a split screen showing TP high scores on one side and Gyruss high scores on the other with videos of each behind it... but it's WAY over my head (and Mike's too ;))

This I agree with. V3.7 is coming soon and knowing how to make the changes you desire is a big thing. It takes time.

Also, I'm trying to complete a vertical Konami image that I will share with the community of Arpicade guys. :)

Still would love to get people's images and free share with the others...

I didn't even know this thread existed lol, I'll keep an eye out for future developments here. I also haven't done any modding to it since 3.7 is being worked on, hence figured why bother making changes that I'll lose anyways.

Any ETA on 3.7?

It's being uploaded to my server and will be emailing customers with their password for download. You will be able to download the compressed version or the one that is already uncompressed for those with a faster Internet connection. Look for the email within a day or so.

glad I saw this thread. Just got my arpicade a couple weeks back and downloaded 3.6 yesterday to start install etc. will be able to start with 3.7 now.

How does one setup for a vertical display? I saw this in config.txt:

# to flip the image to account for monitor mounting
#display_rotate=2

I assume I just change that to either 1 or 3 to make it all work on a vertical monitor?

One more question, I just made the image for 3.7 and put it into my horizontal cab, but there are no games listed. So the arpicade boots, shows the menu screen but the games list is empty. The previous images were ready to go with games, does this image contain no games and we have to supply the roms? I burned the image twice to be sure I didn't mess up, but both times it won't show any games. I tried it in my vertical jamma cab as well that also has an arpicade, same result there.

EDIT: I attached a pic to show what I see. I noticed this image is way smaller than the previous version (7gb vs 14gb) so maybe it's just missing the roms?

If your cab has no service button you will need to plug in a USB keyboard before powering up. Once the system has booted press either 'service'(cabside) or (on keyboard) 'left' or 'right' until you're at the service menu. Use the joystick to select low res vertical and the system will reconfigure it'self and reboot setup vertical.

display_rotate=2 is just to flip the image should your monitor mounting be upside down. Don't use any other values here, 1 or 3 would work but would make getting the setup consistant accross the various emulators very difficult.

Yeah this is just the vanilla version, public release. Roms from earlier versions will work if you copy them over to the new one.
