Arkanoid level editing?

There is currently only one way to get one of these kits on your board. Show up at my place with the following:

- your working Arkanoid board
- a benjamin
- some quality beer (I like it hoppy) and/or booze (whiskey preferred)

An hour or two later you'll walk out happy. And you might even leave with your Arkanoid board.... :D

That offer would be hard to refuse if you weren't a 3 day drive away ! You may still be in for a good drunk with that kinda offer on the table . I hope for your sake they don't all show up at once !

I just ran out of beer, so I hope someone shows up this weekend. :beerchug:

You're a gentleman and a scholar for offering such a deal, sir. If I were near I'd take you up on the exchange.

I'll put this on my NH todo list...

Is there a magic number with regards to interest that would have to exist before a kit could be produced? I'm sure there are enough people on these boards who could handle the soldering / assembling portion of it.

A couple things to keep in mind when designing levels:
You can't put a brick in the upper-right corner (not exactly sure why, but you can't), and in general you want to leave some space at the top (it's best to leave the top two rows either empty or a bit sparse).
Screens that are completely full of bricks are not much fun to play.

hmmmm.... I have been to NH but I'm not there very often. :(

So before I make a special trip with my arkanoid board, can you tell us a little more?

1) where can I download arkedit? I tried and it wouldn't work on some old site.
2) which version of arkanoid can you mod?
3) how many levels can I design? Can I just replace all of the existing ones with my own??

Thanks and I hope you found some beer. It's getting late on a saturday and we don't want there to be any trouble... ;)

2) which version of arkanoid can you mod?

Hardware has to be an original Taito PCB, either original Arkanoid or Tournament Arkanoid (upright or cocktail version). ROM version is my own (modified version of the original Taito Arkanoid code).

3) how many levels can I design? Can I just replace all of the existing ones with my own??

Currently it has 31 levels, and all can be customized to whatever you like.
