After playing around with Arkanoid in MAME, eventually I got to about level 35 or something like that, I decided to cheat the way out but I don't think that was the intended goal with that round (Update: The game has an ending so NO it was not suppose to continue.) Afterwards I was greeted with a crazy looking level, when you press the ball release button, the ball goes CRAZY! it kills you in a second. Knowing the issues. I kept cheating through the glitched levels, however at about round 38, the game plays the credit sound 2 times, but the second time midway through the sound, the screen freezes and the sound glitches and the blocks glitch, eventually the game resets. is this considered a kill screen? what are your thoughts?

Note I was playing the Japanese old version of the game.
Last image is Round 35
Note that there are 3 images of round 38, 1 appears differently, this means every time the round starts on a different game, the game is drawing garbage to random addresses.

The game ends after the player defeats the boss. Since you used emulation to cheat through, it made up unintended nonsense.

Yeah, sometimes the cheats in MAME messes the game up. Also, I've seen save/load states screw it up as well. Nothing like a real PCB. I can get to the boss just fine on mine without any weird stuff happening.

Kind of cool though, this is probably why they put a story, so they can make sure they don't reach the few forbidden levels.
