Arkanoid in a Centipede Cab - Why oh why?

Not entirely awful. Looks to be very salvageable. Good looking cabinet. Its hard to tell from the pic but the control panel might be an easy fix if no extra holes were drilled for the spinner. A bit pricey, though.

Could be worse ....

Here's mine:

Needs a little bit of work ....

Ha !!

Yeah, it needed a wipe down with the magic sponge. Still a work in progress, but has made for a nice Tempest cabaret conversion:

Yeah that's not bad looking. Super nice compared with what it used to look like haha.

I picked up a Centipede Cabaret that looks similar to the one above and it had been gutted for Arkanoid. must have been a common money making conversion back when.

Have been toying with the idea of changing it back to a Centipede using a 60-1 board and a happ trackball.....but Arkanoid is quite a good game...and I have Centipede on an ArcadeSD board already.

So I just let it be for now.
That tempest is very nice looking. Great game.

Surface temp of that radiator is about 50C. I've had cabs near it for past 5 years. Nothing's caught fire. Actually, one or two things have caught fire, but not radiator related ....

Is there a game that hasn't been converted to arkanoid? That has to be the most common conversion ever. I have seen it in most of the well known classic cabs.
