the large coil is your horizontal width coil. it stretches or shrinks the image to fit the horizontal part of the screen. in other words long ways.
the pot with the gunk on it is probably your B+ pot.
unfortunately i am not familiar with that chassis to know where the test point is.
hope someone else that knows will chim in.
but cap it first and see where it goes.
some chassis don't need to have their B+ adjusted after a cap kit they have a fixed B+ due to a fixed regulator setup. but some do like the sanyo, go7, and some sharp models.
if you don't get the cap kit first. after cleaning it i would work on the harness.
so you get that step done wile waiting. it cant hurt.
also just a side note most nano's run on 100volt iso transformers so don't plug it into a 120v non iso'ed source.
