Hello,
I posted in the General Forum that I was looking to buy an A51 Site 4. The seller, who after meeting him seemed extremely truthful, stated after the move to his new residence he noticed wires being disconnected and the machine would not function. I drove out today and took a look at it and it's super clean and seemed like all the parts, which were disconnected, were still there. I have attached some pictures and will try and explain to the best of my ability.
Pic#1-found laying on bottom of cabinet. Has 2 connector both 3 pronged (1 male and 1 female)
Pic#2-pics of connectors
Pic#3&4-white wire laying on bottom of cabinet. Has a piece which appears to screw into a terminal in the box seen in picture 1. On the other end of the white wire are 2 connectors. One labeled "L" and the other "R".
Pic#5-2 wires which are connected inside the cabinet labeled "L" and "R".
Pic#6-gray wire connected to a bunch of wires (seen in background of photo) and the other end has same type of terminal that may go into box in Pic 1.
Pic#7-green wire connected to a cluster of wires that has same terminal that might go to box in Pic#1 however this wire will not reach to the bottom of cabinet.
Pic#8-overview of inside cabinet.
That's all that I can see and think it should be pretty simple just want your all help with it. Thanks!!!!
Mike

Saw your message and unfortunately that looks a lot different than the inside of my Maximum Force cabinet. It does look super clean though and I'm guessing it is something pretty simple, even if it's just the power supply that went bad. Those 3 prong wires you have there that are unplugged however look identical to the power wires that power the monitor in my Max Force cabinet. Could it be that the game is being powered but the monitor simply is not getting power to it?

No idea what the L/R could be though. I thought maybe gun harnesses but they don't have enough wires. I'm also not sure why there are harnesses in the A51/Max Force cabinets for the guns because you could just plug the 4 pin connector to pins 1-4 on the gun connectors, but they have some adapters that go from 4 pin to some like 6 or 9 pin molex connector back to some 9 pin plug.

it's a conversion. whatever that screw terminal power supply is, you don't want that. use the other one that's bolted to the cabinet. and if that's dead, you need a new one just like that. the L/R are probably speaker connections. though Site 4 was mono. the speaker wiring should come directly from the JAMMA harness instead.

this is just a hacky conversion and a majority of what you're questioning is probably all unnecessary junk.

Update...found the connectors for the green/black wires which were in the cabinet unplugged. See photo...turned unit on and monitor comes on but seems like hard drive is not getting power.

Hard drive needs power from either the power supply or a connector going from the motherboard to the HDD.

EDIT:

Here is a pic I just snapped of mine cause I haven't installed it yet. This is the power cable I made to go from the motherboard to the HDD.

Also found these but they don't connect to each other. No where else in the cabinet are connectors that look like these.

your power comes from the JAMMA harness. those thick red, black, orange, and yellow wires at the top.

the hard drive plug on the JAMMIT board goes to the hard drive. some AT style power supplies have a hard drive plug built in, yours I'm guessing does not. I also strongly encourage you read the PSU guide in my signature since you seem new to this sort of thing.

Also why would I not need the silver box Pic#1?
Mike

MrSinister already detailed why. it's not for this game. I'll reiterate you don't have an original Site 4, you have a conversion, so there's probably a lot of unused junk in it. it was probably a Point Blank in a previous life. you don't need a 24V power supply. you use the one that's bolted to the cabinet in the corner.

Is this power?

That is the power cable that can power the hard drive. But if the board isn't getting power, that won't do a thing.

I strongly recommend listening to mecha when it comes to power stuff as he knows shit and gave me some tough loving when I started trying to do a lot of stuff myself.

some of your projects genuinely hurt my feelings. LOL I don't know what you were doing with Target Terror with Linux but I was just like wow okay. :D

OP: if the power supply in the game isn't turning on and happens to be an original Peter Chou, read instructions on wiping the adjustment pot in my guide. I'm starting to see these with pots that are damaged now. they won't cycle smoothly or will have dead spots that shut it down OR even worse will overvolt the +5 line to levels that can damage the game board. so I would suggest if you want to keep this game (or even if you don't, it doesn't work now) that you buy a new one. cause if it's a Peter Chou it's over 20 years old now and due for replacement anyway.

if it's a Happ PowerPro and it's not working, then likewise, you just need to replace it. you can verify that it's powering up if the exhaust fan is spinning. if you have no life out of it it's junk, pretty simple.

Copy that...I'm getting nothing from the power supply so it sounds like that's it. Per the seller, he purchased the machine brand new from Orange County Gaming in Anaheim. It sounds like he bought it a while ago as well. I'm sorry for asking weird questions but I'm trying to build up an arcade for my boys and I in our new home. I definitely don't have a background in this and that's why I signed up here. I moderate a hot rod forum and get dumb questions all the time but I feel that's the benefit of bouncing stuff off of y'all. I greatly appreciate the responses and I apologize for the Target Terror post and I ended up not getting it. We all liked A51 so we decided to grab this one because it's super clean. Read the essential guide which was way over my head but looking forward to keep asking a ton of questions!!! Lol. I'm guessing it's the power supply so I should probably start there and see if it will fire.
There is also a fuse near the plug of the game. Would this be something to check to make sure it's not blown or am I way off beam?
Mike

probably not, your power goes into the power supply first and it connects to the rest of the AC distribution in the game from the 3 pin AC plug off the power supply.

you have a pretty ideal beginner project though. you'll learn a lot from this.

Oh you mean like how I was trying to bypass the dongle check? Yeah that was a fun thread but since my parallel port dongle ended up working with my motherboard adapter I kind of abandoned that.

I'm a software engineer by trade so I like that stuff but it ended up being over my head. I do web app development and that is low level stuff.

But I mean before that you definitely helped me out in a "tell it like it is" way and I have absolutely no problem with that. I have learned a ton in the past 2-3 months on this forum and now am fixing a bunch shit myself. Thanks to people like you helping out.

I also don't think your seller purchased this "brand new" because after mecha mentioned it, that is a conversion. That is not a dedicated Site 4 cabinet. I know because that is what I wanted because the back door came off all the way and gave so much access to extra space I wanted for my cabinet with my switcher. But I got access easily by removing the main game tray.

Stock Site 4 cabinets had a tray up top just like A51/Max Force cabs, but the whole back came off not just the top.
