I just bought an Area 51 site 4 board advertised as working. I plugged it into my Sega Blast City with standard Jamma and all I get is a black screen. I hear the hard drive spin and the red LED on the board lights up. Am I missing something? I hear an occasional faint clicking and each time the screen pulses slightly. It's listed as Jamma + so I am not sure what my Blast is missing. I don't have guns yet either. Thanks for the help.

that game might need -5V. not 100% sure. and I'm fairly certain the Blast City power supplies don't put that voltage out. :(

I tried it with a negatron installed to get the -5v. How much voltage at the edge connector is recommended?

oh yeah I forgot about those things lol

well there's a power interconnect between the boards, if you observe it's like a JAMMA board (or JAMMIT as they called it) where you'll get your voltage in and then the cable goes to a small AT PC motherboard. make sure that's tight, though those connectors are difficult to knock out accidentally.

then there's that watchdog cable that connects on opposite sides of the boards. that shouldn't keep it from powering on. then there's an assortment of connections for the monitor plug and inputs that go between the boards.

you should see a PC boot up screen.
