Hello,

I am having some troubles finding a solution to an issue I'm having with my Nyko Super Cobra light guns (in non-guncon mode) tracking on the PS1 game Area 51. The game boots up and I'm able to advance through the menu, but once I get in-game the shots are registering about 12 inches to the right of where you aim. Vertically the guns are accurate but horizontally they are way off. This does not seem happen on the menu screen only in game, although it is possible that the menu is only working because it is registering the shots all the way at the edge of the menu buttons . I have tried increasing brightness and general troubleshooting methods (rebooting, wiggling wires, testing other ps1 light gun games, etc.) but this is happening consistently and with both of my Nyko light guns which are brand new in the last couple of months. I do not have issues with any other PS1 light gun games.

Any ideas for what I should try next or there are additional details I could provide?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Kyle

I'm not sure I'm 100% following all the details... but I've got light guns set up for consoles on my 32" CRT TV, and the problem I ran into with the guns shooting to the side was caused by the comb filter built into the TV, which improves the picture, but adds a slight delay. But (at least in my case) the filter is only present on the Composite input, not S-Video or Component.

So I made sure to hook any systems with light guns up to the S-Video or Component inputs on the TV (even if I had to sacrifice a little bit of video quality by using a passive Composite to S-Video adapter), and they work great. So, I'd give that a try - or check the menu for a way to disable the filter... but I don't remember that usually being an option.
