Are you "living the arcade dream" ?

I'm young, so probably far from it, but I have fun. One day when I have more space/income/people to play with, it'll be even better. Right now everything is kind of space-lacking but I'm going to work on the basement which will at least give me a semi-dream space as opposed to the cold garage.

Going to put a game I built out of a bootleg cabinet (so I don't care if it gets beat up) out in public and I think that's going to be pretty special for me.

Yeah... I think so.

I don't have a huge collection, but I have two cool game rooms in my house, I love the games I own, I go on game-grab road trips several times a year, I travel to multiple arcade related shows every year, I've made more friends than I can count, and my beautiful wife hasn't left me yet.

My life pretty much kicks ass.

Out of curiosity, when you say 'bootleg cabinet', which specific game / cabinet are you referring to?

Like legitimate bootleg, generic cabinet

It's turning into a Tekken 3 which I am aware is probably the stupidest thing that could go into that cabinet, but I've always wanted to operate a newer style game (for the sake of doing it, it just sounds really really cool for some reason (maybe it feels more professional and cool? I don't know. Maybe it's because it was what was around taking quarters in that environment growing up even though I definitely don't prefer those games) that I can't quite put my finger on and I'd rather keep the older stuff in my house for me, lol) and Tekken 3 being regular JAMMA without a fancy computer or anything was kind of cool to me, and much easier to pull off. It has a space-conversing panel layout (4 buttons arranged in a square, per player) so it shouldn't be too hard to squish on the panel, it looks bigger in person. Hell, I don't even really like the game that much LOL. Just saw the title and jumped on it and figured out that was what would be going in it. A 60-in-1 would probably earn more (and then I wouldn't have to redo the ANNOYING monitor mounts) but I'm just really eager to try this out with the 90's era board and 3D graphics.

I didn't intend for it but both the cabinet and the board ended up being free thanks to a great friend (f1tech) and another great person also here on KLOV.

I am living MY arcade dream. I have a varied collection that suits my tastes well. I have a few games my wife enjoys and a few my kid likes to play.

We have an awesome community of collectors in Western Washington, and being a part of such a great community is a dream I never realized I wanted until I stumbled into it.

I support my hobby by doing repairs for others, and I have a large enough backlog that I could support my family if needed. I also route a few games, though I am hoping to bring those back home by the end of this coming summer.

Overall, next to my family my arcade hobby is the most fulfilling thing in my life.

I only wanted to see my childhood favorite arcade machine in the flesh once again after not seeing it for around 26 years... now I own it, lol, so it' kinda like living my personal arcade dream since back then the thought of having a comercial arcade machine at home never crossed my mind (until the Daytona USA days). :)

As a fan of bootleg and oddball games, I totally approve :) Do it!

What do you consider huge?

On a side note, after watching "Silver Spoons" growing up, I would say yes. Seeing somebody have all of that fun stuff in the house and how cool it would be to have it yourself, now that is a dream.

To me, a "huge" collection is like 25+. I've got 17 in my house right now. Hoping to land #18 before the end of the year.

This..

If you would have told the 12 year old me that I would have a Pacman, Robotron, Donkey Kong etc a few feet away from me on freeplay at home my head probably would have exploded.
