Or do I need to cut this whole bottom off?

Just leave it. Slap some yellow paint on it if you want to hide it a bit... or install a short kickplate over it.

I guess you can tell I'm one for playable games and not minty restorations. ;)

Nothing wrong with either....

That bottom looks nasty, all the way around... swelled and moldy. If I were you and was dead set on restoring it, I would cut off the bottom and build it new.

You can certainly use enough bondo to make it look nice, but since it's on the bottom it'll take the most abuse and chip easily. If you're restoring it you'll need to chop off the bottom.

1 can of bondo done. Heading to Walmart for 2 mar jars of it. I think it's gonna work out...

Doesn't look pretty yet but with 10 hours of sanding it will.

At least wait until I'm done to judge my work

No, that's not what I'm saying. It looks like you made extra work for yourself there. I did it the first time I used bondo as well. Putting it on too thick makes sanding a HUGE task. After burning through like 3 packs of sanding discs for my orbital sander, I vowed that I would never do that again. Every time after that, I put it on with a lot less excess. Makes it WAY easier. Oh, and if you have a palm sander... forget it.

Yea, not a knock on you or no offense, but that is way to thick on there, you are going to be sanding off 90 percent of that off and going to take a very long time.

I applaud your ambition. Wear a respirator both when applying and sanding the bondo. Not a mask...a respirator.

Respirators are for whimps... Cough, cough... I highly recommend working in enclosed spaces.

I'm kinda learning as I go. I have to rebuild the whole bottom so I am putting a bunch on there. Also trying to get it between the boards at the bottom.

Unfortunately all I have is a mask. I am working in the garage with the door open and stepping out often. Everything in my garage, including me, is covered in bondo dust. The hardest part of the job so far was getting that old t molding out. It kept cracking apart and leaving plastic in the middle part. Had to go in with a dremmel and clean it out.
