Are stick-on marquees ever salvagable?

I got a Circus Charlie from another KLOV'r that was converted from a Galaxian. The marquee is actually a sticker put over the original Galaxian on the outside.

The result is that it looks like hell when lit. I'm hoping to peel this and affix it on the back of a freshly cut piece of plexi. The sticker feels somewhat pliable, but the glue is really strong. Wondering if anyone ever removed one of these without butchering it.

Scan it first. Then use a good quality high gloss paper and bright inks in your ink jet printer. Then put it behind the plexiglass. I've done this a couple of times to stand in until I could get the money together to buy a repro translight.

I haven't done this with a marquee, but I did peel the entire sideart sticker off a cabinet with minimal damage. I did it on a hot day (~96 degrees F) out in the sun, so warming it should help.

the only way i can think of removing it would be exceedingly time consuming, to run a "bead" of Goo Gone along the exposed edge of the adhesive, let it do it's work, then very carefully pull it back as far as the Goo Gone has dissolved. rinse and repeat for what is probably hours and hours. and it's always possible the adhesive is something the Goo Gone can't chew through anyway. if successful, you'd then have to find another spray or roll-on adhesive to make it stick to the new plexi.

if you don't mind the Galaxian marquee size and have no particular need to save the Galaxian artwork, why not just remove that?

I'm still a little up in the air about what I'm going to do with the cabinet. The Galaxian marquee is original and looks pretty nice. I didn't want to mess it up. My wife and kid love Circus Charlie, so I want to at least get it presentable.

I guess I'll try working the sticker off slow. I thought about the heat gun suggestion, but the material feels kinda pliable, like it'd stretch and deform. I can get a repro from gameongrafix as a last resort.

You're welcome.

Disclaimer [should have been in other post]: they are not mine and I don't know the seller personally. I just happened to stumble into his posting after seeing yours. Not unlike CL where you see a WTB: XYZ video game ad three spaces after a For Sale: XYZ video game ad....:D
