the only stern i have is TRON LE. i nudge it quite a bit and typically get a warning, but i've only tilted it 5 or 6 times in my 350+ games.

then again.......i'm the one who set the tilt-bob-thingy......so it may very well be a fault of my own.

i should probably admit here that i'm NOT the best at nudging......i try, but with some of my pins, it really doesn't make a difference. case in point: who dunnit. for whatever reason, that pin doesn't respond well to nudges (again, it could very well be the way it's set up...which i did not adjust when i bought the pin). with who dunnit, i pretty much let it drain and try to get the slot machine to give me another chance.

the tilt mechanism remained the same assembly for say about the last 50 years.

It's operators who get lazy and don't know they have to adjust this.
So no, pins are not more easy/difficult to tilt, the op just didn't adjust it well. Better for you :)

The Tilt mechanism is adjustable and it's all in how the game is set up, period. I actually have found that Stern machines can be easier to tilt because they seem easier to nudge back and forth (and get the machine moving) with less force than any of my Bally/Williams machines. I'm not sure why my Bally/Williams pins seem more solid either.

So stupid question, how do I set the bob to be less sensitive to nudging - move the bob up the shaft, or down?

Less senstiive, move it down. There's also an adjustment in the menu that allows for how many warnings the machine gives before actually tilting, you can set it to give up to 3 warnings.

Of course if it's at your home and you don't want the tilt there, just remove the tilt weight completely or wrap it with something so it doesn't contact the metal sides of the mechanism.
