Are people really dumb or do they think I'm just stupid?

Now don't get me wrong I know there are good sellers and bad Sellers and good buyers and bad buyers good flippers and bad flippers all around. But recently I put up for free between here and Facebook Deluxe Route 66 machine that I picked up. End my listing both here and everywhere else I was pretty explicit that they got everything for free except the Naomi board and motherboard. I also mentioned if they wanted those it would be an extra cost.
I had one person that I know from klov message me about apart but they would be interested in if I chose parted out. They were very polite about it and I don't have any problem with people wanting to earmark stuff. But I know that person wanted to see it go to a good home as well. Well I kept getting messages all the time on Facebook from people when did they were part of an arcade group or not asking me to send them or give them the Naomi board for free. One or two people it made me check my listing which was totally fine. Then I got a few more. Some of these people obviously don't know who I am or I don't know what because they would tell me how to unhook the board and how to carefully packaged it. The strange thing was most of these never even mentioned about paying for the shipping. I did have one person offer to pay to have it shipped somewhere to the Midwest at least but they still wanted the board for nothing. Then I got to feel the local yokels, obviously those guys that just found the arcade hobby 15 minutes ago and somehow they're going to become big flippers or Big Time arcade people trying to do the same thing. Again I have to stress I noticed this was not klov members but rather other people. Again I understand there are flippers and their job is to always look for good stuff for his cheap as they can get and there are cheap ass collectors like myself :), however, maybe get pissed off when I would tell them no. A couple of those people I believe know what they were doing cuz they were trying to be crafty about it cuz they would start talking about how they like the machine and the game and everything and how they're interested and then about two or three messages later that's when they would lower the boom and say they only wanted the board. Yes I get it it's a huge ass machine and it takes up a lot of room. They act like I didn't know that oh, that's why I was offering it up for free the try to create the incentive for someone to come by and pick it up. Hell as I told some people if they already had a Naomi board I wouldn't be more than happy to sell them just the cart. But what I found out is a lot of these people are just dreamers or Flippers or guys that just entered the market 15 minutes ago and don't know anything about negotiating so they're like a bull in a china shop

This deserves an explanation on how you originally got the cab and what happened to the original Naomi 2 board and cart this cab first came with. It's hard to sell a cab without the main board that plays the game.

Now that's a darn fine question. Actually the game came with the board set and came with an extra one. When I first picked it up and I told some people about it the first thing they said if they wanted the Naomi board. Since there was an extra one there I figured I could keep one even if it was the broken one and then sell the machine but nobody wanted the machine everyone kept bothering me about the board of which I can understand so I decided to offer up the machine for free in case anybody paddle board or they were interested or what not. That's how I came to it. Again someone could have bought the whole thing and I would have sold it for like two or three hundred bucks, basically maybe a little more than what the card was worth because I would want people to buy into it cheap enough. Everybody knows you can chop up a cabinet and make a lot more money from parts but I didn't want to go that route

King of Route 66 runs on Sega Naomi 2 hardware. It's architecture is nearly different from Naomi 1 hardware. (most) Naomi 1 games can run on Naomi 2 but N2 games can't run on N1. The very best you could have done was post some pics of the cab running the actual game the cab was meant to play, in this case King of Route 66. Because of how huge of a machine this is, you should have sold everything (possibly except for the additional Naomi 1/2 board) for extremely cheap or free.

No such thing.

That's a catch-22. We all want to pay as little as we can when buying, and sell for as much as we can when selling. Unless you hate money, I guess.

I'd wager there's not a single person here who hasn't purchased something in their lives that they haven't sold for more. Not one.

I think I recall the cab and its parts being free (sans board as said in the OP)

I saw this deal and pondered, Hey maybe we should get this for the Museum of pinball but it was missing the PCB and frankly I am trying to reduce the amount of projects at banning and not increase them. It would have been nice to have it since we have an 18 wheeler and the Japanese trucker game version but again, Like i said. I am trying to reduce projects since we got more stuff coming in and the pandemic has really killed the amount of time we can spend repairing arcade machines. Tech time has been crippled.

I am sorry that others are trying to take advantage. I personally really think it great that you are offer the cab for free "WITHOUT" the pcb boards..

Alpha I can sell you an almost limitless supply of projects when get to that point ( you know - when everything at the museum is fixed 🙄 ) but don't worry , I'll still charge you like they're working games - you know , like all the other games on the market today 😂

I don't know what to say.

Yes, some people are certified asshats. Actually, calling them that is an insult to the otherwise hard working asshats of our nation. Facebook seems to BREED THEM ACTIVELY.

Yes, with "assessments" like "What is this worth" claiming a game that didn't match the marque was worth $4000 probably has a bunch of numbskulls and imbeciles thinking they can flip games like nothing and make H U G E bucks. No thanks to that show.

I guess I would point out that Facebook is Troll Heaven (more than this place can be when they come out from under the bridge) and I guess if you post there, hey, you pays your money and you take your chances.

Truth be told, there are much better places to post, so maybe leave off Facebook, and if you are serious about letting it go for free, just put it on Craigslist for your area and also to KLOV. Of course, you then have to put up with the craigslist "send me the code" scam and all the others "Are you a real seller - if you are, you'll send me a code."

I guess in summary I can't find a place that doesn't come with pitfalls of one manner or another.

And to answer your question, they don't THINK you are dumb or stupid, they FERVENTLY HOPE you are though.

So I started taking it apart today for one person at once various parts but actually I spent like six hours trying to take it apart so many bolts and screws just got stripped even when I was using my regular drill. I think what I'm going to do is take what I can and then just toss out the rest. I'm sure somebody 10 years from now we'll find my thread about it and asked me like an asshole if it's still available. Honestly klov used to be a pain in my butt but now I find it's probably the best place. Facebook has trolls klov has Gatekeepers I'm Craigslist just has weakened Warrior flippers

No such thing.
Yes, there are good flippers. If I pick something out of obscurity and pass it on to someone that really wants it, that is a win. I happened upon a bulk purchase of Votrax SC-01's and made a killing on them. If I did not happen upon them, Gene could have thrown them away or they could be still sitting there. Now there are people who got a rare chip and I made money. If I find something local for a good price and sell it to a larger audience, that person would probably not been able to make a local deal.

This is a hobby for many of us, but cash is still "King".
