I have fryed about 4 of 5 PCB's:
Street Fighter 2 CE RED WAVE: pluged into Neo Geo 2 sot Cab
Mk2,NBA jam TE: Pluged into powersupply wired wrong: 12von+5v and+5von-5v
UMK3: bad Jamma harness maybe? i was a old one i had sitting around from a UMK3 pcb i bought used on ebay. i know wiring was right but this one actully smoke but can see the diod that blew(i think thats what it is)
Nba on Nbc/Blitz 2000: not sure monitor stop turning on and when i plug the pcb into a few of my JAMMA wire cab the light turn on and the fans but no video on monitor just a white screen when plug it into SF2 and just a blank or black screen (not sure) in Mk2.

So does anyone know if the motherboards and fixable or do i just have a collection of some rom chips for these game now:(

Some can be and some can't. Your best bet is to have someone look at it and see if it can be repaired. If parts are available for the board there is someone out there who can repair it. Depending on the game it might even be cheaper to just find a working board for sale.

It really depends on what part got toasted and caused the board to fail. In the case of the diode smoking, you may be able to replace the diode and have it work. I don't recall the specifics of what gets toasted plugging a normal jamma board into a cab wired for 2/4/6 slot neo's. If it's a capacitor/diode/resistor, those should be replacable without too much trouble. If it's a custom processor that dies, that gets more complicated as the solder pads are way, way, way smaller than those for a capacitor, and there's lots more of them.

Ultimately what it comes down to is that in most cases it's doable, but if you don't have a logic probe and some other diagnostic equipment, and the knowledge of how to use them, you'd have to send them to someone. Depending on what was damaged and the labor/hour fee of who you send it to, it can often be significanly cheaper to purchase a new board than to get it fixed.

*e* Yeah Nology beat me to it, and with a lot fewer words. :)

SF2 board plugged into Neo Geo cab: Should work fine except for a possibly blown final audio amp chip. There shouldn't be any other issue with the board because of the cab it was plugged into.

MK2/NBA Jam TE: Fubar. No way to know how much damage was done until the board it put on a workbench. Most likely uneconomical to repair.

UMK3: Probably has a blown SMT resistor/capacitor set on the video ground pin. Common problem when a cab is miswired or has grounding issues. The hard part is trying to salvage enough of a pad to solder replacement parts to... plus it'll need one short jumper wire.

NBA on NBC/Blitz 2k: Not sure. Is the hard drive hooked up and powered up? I don't have any experience with these.

Liu Kang you might want to buy some cheap older Jamma PCBs for testing cabs. It's a lot cheaper to burn out a very common cheap PCB than boards like UMK3.

There is a JAMMA tester board on EBay (or directly from Yaton). It works great. LEDs for all switches, small LEDs for +5V (mine needed calibration, which was easily done). It has saved me hours debugging badly wired harnesses (including my own :))

Ya im gonna pick one of thoughs up for sure i know the shipping is a little high but i need it with all the PCB's ive been burning up lately. thanks yellowdog all my working PCB's will appreciate it too not worrying about being burn up in the near future.

If only this board also outputted basic video tests.
