Are PCB prices steadily increasing? Will it end?

So whats the point to just show them off and brag on what I got.Its not like you got a bunch of gold and diamonds.People in this hobby are really weird with this hoarding and bragging stuff.

thats a big part of collecting for allot of people. I know in pinball especially I have met people who barely play their games but never shut up about how many they have and what they are worth.

I dont really care what anyone does I just posted in answer to the thread.

One of the main reasons prices go up is for everyone who actually owns a game and needs a PCB (or some other part for that matter) there are god knows how many people sitting on a stash of them who wont sell or help them out.

That leaves the few people who would actually sell in position to crank up the prices.

100% insane! There are a lot of good shmups that are still affordable, like Strikers II or Raiden 1/2/DX. I'll probably never own a CAVE pcb, I couldn't justify the expense to myself when they were going for 1/3 of that price.
I own Progear, got it at a good price, but I doubt I'll own any other CAVE's. Good call on Raiden DX, that is a great game. Between that and Raiden Fighters Jet, you are covered for Seibu Kaihatsu SHMUPS.

I think this is a little naive. The number of PCBs sitting on Operator shelves likely still far out weight what a few hoarders may have.

And a lot of those Operators think everything is gold too.

The most limited supply of things in this hobby is cheap parts. Someone is always willing to sell something cheap. The number of people willing to buy cheap parts is far greater than the sellers of cheap parts. The rest of us have to buy either fair or expensive priced parts.

The whole point of this thread is people like to complain about high prices about anything.

Gas prices is something everyone always complain about. We have to buy it, we have no choice.

In this hobby it is part prices.

I guess... I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone and this is probably the first (maybe second, I can't remember) I've ever posted a picture of my collection in all my time on this forum.

Just showing off.

I've seen it in other forums and on Facebook.. heck even on here.

My point was that I have a lot, paid mostly below market value (because many were broke when I got them) and don't plan on selling, but I feel the pain of higher prices since broken PCBs are going for the price that working ones were at just 5 years ago.

No need to be sorry. Haters are going to hate (or be jealous).

Nice collection. I love seeing the pics.

I get a little nervous leaving PCBs stacked on each other like that though.

They are stacked carefully. The boards are almost all wrapped in anti static bubble wrap and separated with a square of cardboard. Each shelf has two wooden dividers to compartmentalize smaller sections. The boards that are sitting on top of the horizontal rows have a piece of cardboard below them and the cardboard is resting on the vertical pieces of cardboard (which are taller than the surrounding PCBs).

The boards are as safe as I can make them without buying an extra house. ;)

They are tested at least once a year to make sure they are still in good order. That week is my son's favorite, since he is my official PCB tester. :)

Also, the CPS-2 boards are all cased in plastic so.... they are probably safer than any of the others.

FWIW hoarding does not help the community in any way, shape, or form

anyone is free to do whatever they want with their stuff (i'm neutral on the matter), but i wouldn't exactly brag about being a hoarder. all it does is create an artificial scarcity that drives prices up for everyone.

I don't totally agree to be honest. People hoarding pcb's is what led to the creation of awesome boards like the Arpicade, that multi Pacman board, etc. I can't own every game, simply don't have the room, so boards like the Arpicade are gold to me, and they exist because of the artificial pcb shortages that hoarders created, they created the market and demand for it.

And then when the prices go up from higher demand than supply, it causes those who are hoarding boards to decide it's actually worthwhile to sell, adding to the supply... causing prices to drop. It's simple economics.

I'm not a hater at all.I got 90% of the games I wanted on my list for fair and below market value in 2-3 years.I achieved this buy fellow collectors helping me and people not hoarding shit just to stay they own it or for money value.I wasn't trying to point the person out specificity with the pcb's.

What´s wrong with collecting different jamma boards and how is that hoarding ?
I have two candies and two shelves in a cupboard containing 50 boards, switching boards is as easy, you could use a jamma switch to hook up multiple boards, the boards take up as much space as one Donkey kong cab .

There is nothing wrong with collecting. Hoarding is a psychiatric problem where a person is compelled to seek, gather and keep everything they have a need for or interest in. If you don't have piles of stuff filling your house with narrow paths just barely wide enough for you to walk through and you do get rid of things from time to time, you prob aren't a hoarder.
