Are Pac, MsPac & Galaxian cabinets exactly the same?

Title says it all, are Pacman, Ms. Pacman and Galaxian cabinets exactly the same? If not, what are the differences? Any other cabinets also exactly like these?

Pac and Galaxian cabs are pretty much the same along with Rally-X. Ms Pac-Man has a slightly different cabinet shape that's most noticeable on the front monitor area. A Pac cab has a more gradual slope from the top down to the control panel, but Ms Pac is basically a straight edge down and only curving just before the control panel. Galaga and Bosconian also share the same cab as Ms Pac-Man.

Exactly, as in......if they were all in a row, no artwork, no paint, no nothing.....would they be indistinguishable? Galaxian and Pac-Man, yes.

As SuperGun stated, Ms. Pac-Man is similar......the curvature he mentioned is different. Also, the coin bucket area is different. Pac-Man and Galaxian have a wooden shelf built inside the coin door area, the bucket sits on this shelf. Ms. Pac-Man has four holes in it's front with large bolts. These bolts anchor a metal bracket that holds the coin bucket.

While Rally X shares the same "curvature" as Pac-Man and Galaxian (and coin bucket area), the cabinet is not nearly as deep as the other two.

Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Bosconian all share the same "curvature", but all have subtle differences. Galaga has a coin bucket area like Pac-Man. Bosconian is not neatly as deep as Ms. Pac-Man.

Also, some of these game cabinets have subtle differences in the angle or pitch the monitor sets.....not too mention horizontal verses vertical.

They're often confused when they're converted and painted over. For good reason too, they look very similar. Here's a quick shot with the two models sitting side by side. There are some distinct features which separate the two.

It goes further than that. Galaxian and Pac-Man were practically Siamese twins at one point.

I remember having this discussion with Gary Vincent at Funspot/ACAM. He said when Pac-Man took off Bally/Midway had to ramp up production big time. It was all hands on deck and use any materials that are available. Galaxian was still in production so its cab parts got redirected to the Pac-Man assembly line since they were using the same cabinet anyway. Gary said it's not unheard of to look inside of a Pac-Man and see Galaxian artwork on the floor of the cabinet or on the inner walls.

What really bugs me is people that "restore" converted cabinets and put the wrong artwork on the cabinet. On E-bay, you will often see a "restored" Pac-Man that is really a Ms. Pac/Galaga cabinet with a Pac artwork package. The same thing goes with "restored" Ms. Pacs that are the Pac/Galaxian cabinet with Ms. Pac artwork. Drives me nuts.

Also, isn't Burgertime basically the same cabinet as Ms. Pac/Galaga/Bosco but with "bumps" at the top for Peter Pepper's hat? I don't know if the rest of the dimensions are the same but it would appear so.

I think so. I'll be measuring the Burgertime at the NW Pinball show to confirm.

They are....though, the monitor pitch is slightly different.

Same goes for Super Pac-Man.....put the "pie piece" back in, and I believe it's a Pac-Man/Galaxian cabinet (though, it might be Galaga style....I can't remember).

I remember back in the $1500-$1800 Ms. Pac-Man/Pac-Man/Galaga days on Ebay........the Adkins brothers hacking many a Burgertimes into Galagas and Ms. Pac-Mans......or filling the pie piece in on Super Pac-Mans.

Yeah, you're right. Looks like a Ms.Pac with the notch knocked out. I never noticed that.

Are those guys active on here at all?

Will a galaga control panel fit on a ms pac cab?
I've got a Ms Pac machine and a galaga board and want to be able to switch the games. I don't want to hack my pac control panel though. I rather switch out the control panel and put in another harness or jammatize the cab.
