Are they very popular? I'm asking because I bought a red tent that has Duck Hunt in it. I was thinking of selling the DH to put a different game in it. I am assuming DH isn't as popular as Hogan's Alley maybe? And the guns... are they really this expensive? Yikes!

no, the red tent with duck hunt is about the most awkward setup possible. don't think it should ever be played in that setup.

Completely disagree. Like 100%. I find playing gun games on the tent to be way easier and more fluid than playing on the upright counterpart. When you stand in front of the tent you aim down at the screen. Now if you sat down the yes that would be awkward, but why would you sit.

Nintendo gun games are extremely popular. On the VS and on the Playchoice. On the VS you have duckhunt, hogans alley, freedom force and gumshoe. Duckhunt is by far the most popular. Far more difficult than the nes counterpart and you can shoot the dog in the bonus round.

On the Playchoice guns are extremely popular. Original games were duckhunt, hogans alley, and wild gunman. On my site PC-10.com i have many additional choices and customers are always happy to add new gun games.

Shooting down at a game that youre supposed to sit at seems odd. Its like playing a shooter on a candy cab. Guess if youre shorter its fine, but shooting down is not natural posture for comfort either.

I'm 6'2". And it works for me. I don't have a chair on that side most of the time. It has duck hunt in it most of the time. The monitor is tipped on an angle and it makes it perfect for it. When I was a kid I never sat down to play duckhunt on my nes on my tv. Most people in the 80's had floor console tvs or low sitting entertainment centers. So then you stood and shot at the floor at that point basically. So guess it works for me and a bunch of people that I know that have tents.

I also found it very awkward playing Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley on a red tent. I also think it's awkward in a single monitor nintendo cabinet. I think nintendo gun games are best in either a Duel-PC10 or a Vs DuelSystem.

So FYI you asked a very subjective question. No one can answer this but you. I can tell you from my personal consensus of family/friends/37 years of taking notes on light gun play -- Duck Hunt is actually lots of peoples favorite game ! For me, I hate it. I honestly don't like any light gun games. But Dunk Hunt is extremely popular, so don't under estimate it.

I want to ask you though, why do you care if its popular ? You should put in what you want to put in it. If it were me though, I wouldn't have any light gun games in there. Only gun games I like were the slightly newer ones starting around 2000

Kinda explained why I was asking when I posted the question. I bought a red tent. It has Duck Hunt. Personally I don't like nes gun games. But in my gameroom it's mostly grandkids playing and was trying to get a general vibe of how people feel about them. Maybe I'm in the minority and trying to figure that out 🤔

Also once I got the red tent home I found 2 more playchoice games in the coin buckets. I hooked them up and they work also. So now wondering do I go with an playchoice cabinet to go along with the guns or sell the guns.

Was just looking for opinions on liability of the games. That's all.

They seem popular enough to me, regardless of format. I see them played often at Funspot.

The main issue for me is that I've played these games to DEATH on the NES and I'm literally bored of Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman.
I get that these titles appeal to gamers new and old, but for those of us that had the NES back in the day, we've been there and done that numerous times.

The VS version of duckhunt is pretty different from the nes version though. Bonus round, switch between ducks and discs, ducks are smaller, ect. I know hogan's is different too, but I've never played it enough on either to know personally.

Yeah, you're right. There are changes that add some variety.

But just like Super Mario Bros...I've played the game so many times, on so many Nintendo systems that the game just lost its luster with me. Even the VS version isn't enough. I think its just burnout from spending literally hundreds of hours with those titles.

I wonder if anyone else feels the same?

Pace yourself, pace yourself! It wasn't easy at first, but I taught myself to change games as to not get bored.

Just about anybody is going to get bored with any given game if played so many times in different formats. Switching things up certainly avoids getting burned out on one title.

I've been playing a ton of Zapper games on the Playchoice since installing Tony's Zapper/controller mod. They are amazing games. There aren't many. Hogan's Alley and Duck Hunt are definitely the best.
