sunset riders, like most of the konami games at the time, originally had wico 8 way leaf. I wouldn't put either happ comp or IL in that cab.

The actuators will bind up on the happs, why not just get the IL sticks when they are $13 each?Wow. The whole bat length argument was 50% of my concern, so looked further into this. It seems my Sunset Riders joystick bases are recessed about .25 to .5" into the underside of the control panel, creating the difference when I compare it to my ILs in my MK1.
So now that bat height is the same, and gameplay won't be noticeably different with my style games, it's just a matter if I want to save 5 buck per controller. Lol this thread is a spinner.

Yes buy them at Paradise Arcade Shop, make sure you request them it Cherry switches.

By sunset riders, they already changed to wico 8 way microswitch sticks. TMNT & Simpsons = leaf. Sunset riders, TIT, xmen = microswitch.
But the point is the cabinet originally had Wico leaf sticks.

You are better off getting IL sticks and swapping the dust washers than getting HAPP sticks an swapping the actuator and the bushing it rides on.I don't like the grip on the ball top, except on certain games for example on my Smash TV. And from what I gather, finding Wico Leaf sticks are few and far between, and expensive. I was also reading that rebuilt ones could be bad if hard rubber grommets were used.
In regards to the ILs, I may buy them, but between Paradise Arcade and Focus Attack, someone is usually out of a color and I don't want to pay extra shipping from 2 sites in order to buy a set. Plus, the ILs have a color matching dust washer, I like the black washer better, I just think the colored one looks more toy like (unless it's black on black). If I was able to buy the black washer seperate and swap it onto the IL I would probably buy it, provided one site had all colors in stock.
Both sites usually seem to have all common Happ Comp colors in stock, but now I know why. I just didn't know they bound up that often in non fighting games.

Just saying.

Sure, see below. If it's not a Happ Comp, can you confirm if the joystick is the same height as the IL?Ok I'm pretty sure that red stick isn't a HAPP competition stick. Can you shoot a photo of the underside? I wondering if you have a HAPP ultimate or Super in your cabinet.
4 ideally, possibly 8 (the ones that are supposed to go on top of the CP.Oh and I have some black washers I can send you that will fit. How many do you need?
I may be getting confused, I know there's a underside washer, but are you saying there's not supposed to be a washer on top of the control panel? If I did that, there'd be a large (unreasonable in my opinion) gap around the shaft as shown in the last picture.Lasty those dust washers are supposed to be mounted under the panel, and yes I know I have them on top of a few of my cabinets.
The switches really only matter because the Cherry switches are gold plated so they don't oxidize on the contacts as fast and their last longer. Those e switches at least in my basement don't last a year before one stops working.I'm the type that I nevvvvvvver believe all the purist or super picky people's opinions on things.
With that said, I figured out awhile back that yes the newer Happ Competition joysticks are completely junk for fighting games. I'm not a really good player but i'm o.k. with Ryu on Street fighter, etc. With the Competition joysticks you'll miss fireballs and dragon punches and things OFTEN. Like every other move.
They didn't use to be like that but they've changed. The IL sticks work better so I started ordering those for fighting games.
I couldn't care less about the spring or the weight of the switches, etc. but unfortunately it's just a fact that the competition sticks the way they're making them right now can't be used in fighting games.
