My uncle plays pinball really well. He grew up during the time when pinball machines were everywhere, but he also is really good at golf.

Tonight I was hitting some shots on my Sorcerer game, and started to notice how some of the hits I was making were starting to seem like bank shots that one would do in pool.

It just got me to wondering: if people are good at golf, pool, or related sports where the shots have to be calculated more-or-less, does it make it pretty certain that they'll be good at pinball as well?

I spent my childhood playing video games and pinball, last summer I bought my first set of golf clubs and my friends that have been playing golf for ten years are pissed cause I guess Im pretty good. I cant say that the two skills have ALOT in common except for the hand eye coordination but the closest I can describe it would be I dont overthink stuff, kinda play "in the zone" I guess would be a good way to describe it. Kinda weird cause I dont consider myself all too good at pinball but the video games I spent ALOT of time with.

Agreed, the hand-eye coordination thing is there but I think another element is being competitive. People who play sports generally have more of a competitive side and *want* to get better and will work towards it. I have not met a single really good pinball player who was not also pretty competitive.

Love those bank shots needed to hit the O and first R targets.

Believe it or not, I actually do a straight shot to them up from the left bumper! If you hit the bumper when the pinball is just to the right of the "W" on the bumper, it will go straight up and hit those letters usually.

I'm assuming you mean flipper, not bumper. My flippers need rebuilding, hence I have to bank it off the post.
