Hi!

I picked up a nice Centipede Cabaret last night and was curious about the serial number. According to numerous production logs I have seen on the web, Atari made less than 4000 of these cabinets. However my serial number is slightly above that number. Were the Atari serial numbers in order for American built cabinets? I would think that each body style (upright, mini, cocktail...ect.) would have gotten it's own serial numbers starting at one but maybe not? Maybe they all shared numbers?

I don't think they are.

There hasn't been any evidence to prove that they are, and there are many instances of numbers being higher than the supposed production counts.

It may also depend on the game. I.e., I'm not sure if there haven been serials observed that are greater than the production counts, for all titles Atari produced. (There are some low-production games where I have not seen the serials be higher than what we believe are the production totals, anyway.)

It's something I've casually noticed and have kept an eye on over the years, as I've wondered the same.

Waves hand - This is not the Centipede you are looking for. You should really sell it to me and come to San Antonio when you want to play it. I promise it will be on free play for you and you get to visit the River Walk as an added bonus :)

Ohhhhh! San Antonio River Walk.

That place rocks, even if it doesn't have an arcade.
