Hi guys. My work got sick of our vending company and gave them the boot. THey bought some old school pop and vending machines..

the pop machine has an ardac bill acceptor on it.(stacker) The pop machine works with coins but the acceptor wont work. Showing a code 3.

Do i need to have $20 worth of change in this machine for the acceptor to work? I have a feeling thats all thats wrong but figured i better ask and make sure. They dont want to fill it with change if that isnt going to fix it.

I bought a pop with nickels and dimes and as soon as the exact change light shut off, the acceptor works. Awesome.

Now i gotta figure out how to add a bill acceptor to thos old ass woody woodgrain vending machine we got.

In general, the coin changer cannot "enable" the bill acceptor to work unless there is a sufficient amount of change in the change tubes. Once there is enough change in the payout tubes, then the changer closes the "enable" circuit to the bill acceptor.

Check with Capital Vending for adapter harnesses/kits that allow you to add bill acceptors to just about any vending machine. Naturally, they will need to know the make and model of the vending machine and the make and model of the coin changer in it.

If you have a Ardac or Dixie-Narco "USA" series bill acceptor, I just scanned and posted the manual and service bulletins for it here:

One ore dumb question.. this is a royal machine or at least the coin mech/display is...

the digital display kept falling off. The last time i put it back i manage dto plug the cable into it backwards.

didnt see any smoke or hear any electrical crack of death, but of course the display is now inoperative. The rest of the machine still works fine.

What the hell did i do?

If you mean the machine was made by "Royal Vendors" you may have to contact the manufacturer or Capital Vending or Vendor's Exchange International for assistance. They will need to know the specific make and model of coin changer installed in the machine too.
