a buddy of mine calls me out of the blue today and says he found an archie pinball machine in the basement of some old bar here in town. Supposedly its uber cheap.

I tried to look it up here but i cant find a archie pinball. mabye he got the name wrong who knows.

He says" yeah its the archie pinball, just like the old comic strip. It has mechanical score reels. It works but the action is slow and the right flipper doesent work"

gonna look at it later this weekend. Seems interesting enough. WHo knows mabye its some rare bird!

As far as I know, there is no "Archie" EM pinball. I don't think any of the pinball manufacturers back then would have wanted to pay for licensing rights.

thats what i though ttoo, the archie people are super strict about copyright stuff. We shall see. THis could get interesting...

I wonder if its Zig Zag,

Possibly a vintage home use and/or kids pinball, maybe? Like they used to sell in the Sears Wishbooks in the early 80's. Seems like several have been popping up on the St. Louis and beyond Craigslists lately.

Some Archie history

If you are into history:

Back in the 1960's Bob Montana, creator of the Archie characters, served on the Meredith, NH Library Board with Bob Lawton, the owner of Funspot. Bob Lawton asked Montana if he could create a logo character for Funspot and he created the Funspot Jester in the likeness of Jughead.

Gary :)
