Hey all!

I'm trying to help a guy who has an Arch Rivals. I found out that the power supply must have gone south as it was hitting the board with about +7 volts and wouldn't adjust downward.

So I got him a new PS and installed it last night. The board came up now and the voltage was back to +5, but now all of the foreground images/characters are missing. I'm assuming that the excess voltage must have taken something out on the board.

I ran the self-test and it didn't help.

I found the page from the manual that mentions this problem and then lists several chips (some Ram, some ROM, some logic, etc.) that may be bad.

But I was wondering if anyone out there had ever encountered this problem and have any insight on where to look first? I've never worked on an AR before as I mostly deal with the early 80s games and AR came out after I had stopped going to arcades. :)

Thanks!

Jon

i have a working board set, still on the metal frame if you need it...

I guess send me a PM with the price and I will pass it along to the owner to see if he wants to go that route. If it matters, he only would need the main board as the sound board seems to be OK.
