Hey all!
I'm trying to help a guy who has an Arch Rivals. I found out that the power supply must have gone south as it was hitting the board with about +7 volts and wouldn't adjust downward.
So I got him a new PS and installed it last night. The board came up now and the voltage was back to +5, but now all of the foreground images/characters are missing. I'm assuming that the excess voltage must have taken something out on the board.
I ran the self-test and it didn't help.
I found the page from the manual that mentions this problem and then lists several chips (some Ram, some ROM, some logic, etc.) that may be bad.
But I was wondering if anyone out there had ever encountered this problem and have any insight on where to look first? I've never worked on an AR before as I mostly deal with the early 80s games and AR came out after I had stopped going to arcades.
Thanks!
Jon
