Hello,

I have been given an Arcadeshop PCB that the original owner couldn't get working. I bought a usb to serial adapter and have tried to program this with menusys using a computer with the pcb powered by a jamma connection.

The menusys just says waiting for board and the picture on the monitor is like a rug pattern similar to a Williams board rug.

I have tried different COM ports and a couple of different bit transfer rate speeds. Does anyone know if my board is toast or if there are other settings to try? Does the switch need to be on test or run when trying to program? I have tried both with the same "waiting for board" message. Is the rug pattern normal?

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone familiar with arcadeshop pcb and programming settings have any ideas?

Old thread, but is there a way to obtain the menusys software.. I've been looking around for it

I ordered this cable, installed it's driver, tested and found com port 5 was the one highlighted the roms to be programmed. Powered up says erasing flash, and screen shows serial upgrade.. anyone have any idea the amount of time it takes to erase and flash a the PCB, ball park, and is this normal looking m? It should take Seconds to erase that, and a few min at MAX to program it.

If your totally Stuck figure out what Flash it is and you can "DIY" a programming cable to direct wire to the chip itself and try to force program it. There could be some issue with the onboard connections for the programming, OR could even be a bad Flash chip. Buying used unknown not working boards is always a gamble at best. Also you MAY be running a "to new" PC to program it with????? I have had issues with that in the past also, or your Cable is not up to the task. So many things it could be.....
