Just a heads up that Arcadeshop has posted an update to the vertical game support. The board now has support for Rally X and Gridlee.

Just the games that I wanted to see....... NOT! Of all of the vertical games that they could put out, why those? People all like all of the Konami/Centuri games and they are all vertical. All that you have to do is download MAME files. From what I see, all that "Support" does is gives you the game in the board's menu. If that's the case, why not add some better titles instead of Rally X and ????? that other one that I've never heard of. I mean, how many people have you ever heard say, "I'm keeping my eyes open for a Rally X. Let me know if you come across one." I've heard that phrase a lot, but never with Rally X inserted.... And sefinately not with Gridlee inserted!

Actually, I've heard tons more people asking for _horizontal_ games, not vertical.

If they're going to add more verticals, then how about adding Sky Shark for cryin' out loud?

Hey man, don't slam Rally X!

Isnt Rally X a horizontal game anyway?
They bother to convert it to work as a vert game but dont even put it on the horiz?
Any why not also do new rally X?
Their "updates" really suck big time.
I want congo bongo because its not alot more work then zaxxon, and I want qbert that was to be released months ago.

All these wants and the funny thing is that you can have them all and more if you just get off your lazy asses and build a freakin' MAME cabinet or two! Every game named off thus far happily plays in one of my two MAME cabinets.

I'd LOVE an AS programmable multi board...but at the price they are asking (which has NOT gone down in years), it's not worth it since I can pick up a 48-in-1 for half the price...

I already have MAME, I just don't feel like sullying a nice cab for one...and don't have the room for one of the big ones like you have.....

And I have a Circus Charlie in progress, but I just think it's a cool game and should be shared with those who don't know MAME....

Gridlee?

I had to look that one up here on KLOV. I guess AS is looking to expand the trackball offerings. The KLOV entry for the game has this to say:

Only one actual working Gridlee machine was ever produced and it is currently owned by Dale Luck. To preserve this piece of gaming history, the three co-founders of Videa (Howard Delman, Ed Rotberg, and Roger Hector) have provided images of the game's PROMs free for noncommercial use.
Videa was acquired by Pizza Time Theater and used to form Sente Technologies.

It looks like it also includes two Galaga hacks - "Galaga 2000" and "Galaga Enduring Freedom". Anyone know anything about them? Are they customs by Clay?

I wonder if I purchased DK Foundry ROM, if I could use it in MAME?

I asked him once and he didn't see "why not"... However, wouldn't give me a firm Yes or No because he has never tested it... Ask over at arcadecontrols.com...

It's only $5.00 so not to much investment.

I upgraded my board last night. Gridlee looks interesting but I can't figure out how to play it (I don't have a trackball, though, so it doesn't matter anyway). The horizontal to vertical translation of Rally-X came out good. Galaga 2000 is a hack that uses different sprites for the ship and bugs and a new font. Not bad, but the gameplay is identical to the regular version. Galaga Enduring Freedom is probably what you would expect - a hack with Osama Bin Laden graphics. Your ship is a helicopter, Galagas are Osama heads and bugs are sword wielding terrorists.
