Arcadeshop Asteroids cardboard bezel, how to fix ??

Bought two of these, one for my LL one for ....yeahhh Asteroids.

How do you guys fix the two parts together ? Glue ? Staples (sounds kinda ugly) ?
Or don't you fixe them at all together ?

Never mind, tried a couple of glues, nothing is strong enough. I stapled them, the only possible way I guess. I gave it a final BBQ black colored Rustoleum spray (also to cover the staples) and it turned out really nice IMHO:

Mmm, great tips. The staples aren't that bad, since I sprayed them they aren't that noticable and who looks at a black bezel during gameplay anyway ?

It would be nice if Arcadeshop actually provided the means to put both pieces together...

I know the originals had a double-sided tape in them. I tried a thin double-sided tape, like the kind for the window film, and it didn't hold. I ended up using hotglue which has held pretty good so far.

Yeah, I also found that the regular double sided tape just has no strength. If you glue, you have to clamp it - PITA. The double sided foam stuff works very well and isn't so thick that it looks odd or anything.

good to know for the Asteroids one, staples would be totally ugly there.

I mounted mine to the cab with Velcro by the way. Two full strips of the hard side of the Velcro on the sides left and right and three tiny parts of the soft side to the bezel. I think if I would have done a full strip on the bezel I would never be abel to get it off again. The Velcro didn't stick very well to the cab so I stapled it to extra secure it. Of course I didn't do that on the bezel side...

Anyway, this way it stays fixed and I can still remove it to get the monitor out when needed.

I put a thin line of wood glue on the joint, line it up nice, and put some wood strips and a couple spring clamps on it. Then let the glue set for about a day. Works good.

I use rubber cement. Apply to both pieces, wait till it's tacky and press together. Only problem is you only get one shot at it. If it's not aligned correctly - too bad.

I used to use both methods that earblast and MrGorf posted, when doing picture framing. 3M spray adhesives can really stick stuff together! Depending on the surfaces you can also use the "spray both surfaces and let them get tacky" method with the spray adhesives, just like with rubber cement. Better get it right the first time though!

For the 3M spray, I usually use Super77, and for rubber cement, Best-Test.
