Well, Gameworks is in the downtown area and it's pretty good fun. They have a giant machine that I haven't seen anywhere else where you're strapped into a seat that goes up and down like 50 feet as you control a hot air balloon trying to pop other peoples' hot air balloons.

5 points cafe by Seattle Center (really close to the space needle) had good burgers and stuff in my opinion, and good portions.

You might check out Arcaded Penny, just found this in a google search (couldn't find any info about it though...might not be around anymore):

I also found Seattle Waterfront Arcade but they had a list of games on their website that wasn't too impressive.

B&I down in Tacoma has ALOT of games, they're beatup, but about the only place around town to play any classics...

Ground Kontrol is a bar/arcade in Portland and is BY FAR the best arcade in the Pac NW. 50 arcades and another 30 pins maybe...

Gameworks like mentioned above, all newer games which are alright, but only 3 or 4 classics in generic square cabinets. They have an 8 player Indy 500 I believe it is...

Funtasia in Edmonds (15 minutes North of Seattle) is a kiddie game amusement center. A few descent games in there, they have a 4p Daytona USA, some shooting games, maybe a Simpsons and 4 pinball machines. If I remember he's got either a Galaga or Galaxian tucked in the back by the bathrooms.

GOOD BREAKFAST FOOD, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND "THE BREAKFAST CLUB" in Lake City... Its a little dive with crap all over the walls, but TO DIE FOR biscuits and gravy better than the hundreds of other places I've eaten it at. They're only open until 2pm...

Don't forget Shortys in Belltown (about 6 blocks from the Space Needle)

They are primarly pins. I think they have 10-12 but also have a few old school vids in the front of the bar.

Great Dogs and even better atmosphere.

Ahhh, I always forget Shorty's! They also have pinball playfeild tables which is really cool!

There is a mechanical place that has a bunch of EM pins but I'd have to dig the name of it up...

Basically 97% of the cool arcades in the Pac NW are LONG GONE! :(

You know, I don't know if the "Fun Forest" is still there... a few years ago it was, but I didn't bother to go over there at the gameroom show this year. They haven't had anything good in there since I was a kid anyways... when I went last they had laser tag and bumpercarts, and 3/4ths of the huge building that USED to be arcades was no longer and they were just a blip in the room.

Seattle

Yeah it's been years since i've been down there. All the games where beat badly but they had some pins and Simpsons and 6 player x-men.

unfortunately Shorty's is about the only place worth going downtown, and as previously mentioned it focuses primarily on pinball.

and as for food, what price range are you looking at? there isn't much downtown that's cheap, but there are plenty of good restaurants.

There's an Arcade in the Supermall, though not all that great, down in Auburn just off Highway 167.

There's also an arcade in the Commons, a mall in Federal way and easily gotten from I-5. They have their games for sale most of the time, I guess in case someone wants to buy. :)

Those are the only two arcades I really know of.

We have a Godfathers Pizza place with a small arcade in it as well in Auburn.

As far as I know the fun forest is still in somewhat of an operational mode. There has been talk of taking out the entire carnival portion of the seattle center. Not sure of a game lineup but I would have to guess a few drivers, shooters and redemption crap.

I believe it's called "The Hurricane", it's a great greasy spoon that I always eat at after I get all pissed up on 2nd avenue. Also last time I was there I ate a place called Dick's near the seattle centre which was ridiculously good for fast food burgers. Other than that I've had no luck in Seattle, I hear there are lots of great places to eat, I just never find them.

If there is any way for you to come to Portland, Ground Kontrol is the best arcade by far for classic games and pins. If it you decide to do it, PM me a few days before and I'll meet you down there. They've even got a Track & Field there. I'll buy the beers....

The Hurricane Cafe is on 7th - Link

It's a greasy diner/dive type place. I used to love going there when I was 17.

Thanks for all the info. It seems I'm only a 15 minute walk from Shortys and The Hurricane. I'll scope 'em out.

X-Men stand up in Seattle?

Hi,
Does anyone know ANYPLACE in Seattle (in the immediate city and neighborhoods, don't want to drive to Kent or anything) where they still have the X-Men arcade game for play? I want to find one to play for my birthday.

The one at Seattle Center Fun Forest is gone, unless it is hidden somewhere. From what I can tell it was still there in 2005 but at this point, I didn't find it anywhere. They took a lot of machines out in the last five years.

If there is a Ninja Turtle system anywhere I'd be interested as well.

Thanks.

I have X-men 6-player cabinet and two TMNT boards at my house...

B&I in Tacoma has a 6-player X-men to play...

Don't know of any others.

Oh, Funtasia has a Simpsons.
