I'm in Denver (Westminster) for business and I have time open on Tuesday. I was thinking about visiting that Casa Bonita place, but are there any arcades that focus on golden age games in the area? Anything arcade related I should check out?

BTW, Casa Bonita was recently purchased by Trey Parker and Matt Stone (Creators of South Park). It almost went out of business and they saved it from being demolished.

They spent millions renovating it and getting up to modern standards. As a result, it's crazy popular and I'm like 99% sure you have to make a reservation to get in. Just wanted to warn you so you don't waste a trip there, just to have them turn you away.

(Checks)

(Full, no reservations available.)

"Screw you guys—I'm goin' home!"

(I'm kidding, I didn't check)

Casa Bonita does have pinball at least

It's the same layout as Primus, it's one of those layouts that Stern will reskin for anything.

I checked, they are booked for like a month!
It's pretty insane. They have been like that since they re-opened. The demand it totally off the charts.

I grew up in the Denver area and have incredible memories of having birthday parties there and exploring Black Barts cave.

They had an awesome arcade back in the day too, of course.

If you want to check out a non bar place, Channel 3 Arcade in lakewood is open Tuesday.

(But I am biased, my Pinball machines are in there)

I went to the 1UP Arcade in Westminster because it's a mile and a half from my hotel, they have built a beautiful arcade there. Probably the best looking arcade I've seen. All the games were restored and super clean, only saw 2 LCD's on vintage games, and almost everything worked perfectly. Awesome decor/build out, super clean.

Awesome! That's great to hear. I have been to the other 2 1Ups here but haven't made it up to the Westminster one yet.

Glad you had a good time.

Personally, I'm a golden age arcade only guy. Although I do love pinball machines, I'm just not much into playing them 😆 But the pinball section at this arcade was a first class presentation. Definitely worth checking out. Compared to the barcades in the Dallas area (which I enjoy them all) this one seemed more original and detailed in the design and decor. And I've never seen cleaner golden age arcade games since 1982, beautifully done. The owners clearly love the games.

Pinball for me got waaaaaaay better with Stern Insider Connected and Pindigo. Now I have clear score targets, score tracking, and objectives. Plus learning the rules of lots of games was a game changer. Now the only problem is if I don't have these, I don't want to play pinball. Reminds me of people who can't enjoy sports without betting:)

That maybe part of it for me, I never really felt like I was playing a pinball machine, I felt like I was watching the machine play itself and trying to keep the ball from going between the flippers.

When you start understanding the game and getting good at ball control it's kind of amazing.

I recently streamed the Metallica Remastered I have at Channel 3 Arcade, we're going to stream Jaws next Monday.

It was cool going through the rules and some of the things that you don't know from first walking up to the game.
