My dad is retired and spends most of his time making artwork and yard sculptures out of miscellaneous junk (old motorcycle and car parts, tools, scrap metal, etc.). Most of his stuff is strange, alien looking things with wild paint jobs. I've been badgering him to make me something arcade related that I could put in my yard by my game room. I gave him a box of old arcade parts (beat Midway coin door, joysticks, buttons) and he told me he'd try to come up with something. Well, he surprized me today with this "Pac-Snake"! It's made of a motorcycle chain with a small garden shovel head and a spring, plus a couple of buttons, joystick, and my favorite, a tongue made of a Midway coin door plate! I'll get some pics of it in my yard soon, but for now here it is in my garage:

I'd so put that in my yard but, would be afraid someone would steal it. Guess I'd have to put it in the back yard. Or.....run 220v to it.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I put it next to the door to my arcade (in the back yard). Pat, I have a couple of others that my dad made (not arcade related) in the front yard, and they haven't been stolen yet... but I like the 220 idea! :D Here's a shot of it:

Here's a few others that I have also:

My dad has a few statues that are over 6' tall, some robot/alien looking things. I wanted to put one of those by the arcade, but it would probably scare the shit out of my son and/or wife. :D

Hey DP Louie ,that's really creative ! I see some potential online store ideas.
How's it going over there? Doing any workin that garage?
Keep in touch soon!

I think I remember reading another thread a while back showing your arcade and liking it a lot. That is really cool. Love the idea. Your dad could probably easily sell those. <hint hint>

Hey, what's up! Not much work happening lately - it's been too hot. Should be cooling off soon though. Picked up anything new lately? Space Invaders maybe? :)

Actually, he does sell them locally. I have the only arcade inspired one though... ;) I've tried to get him to build more, but he always tells me that he doesn't like to create things with a "plan" or a set parts list. He likes to basically just create things freestyle. It certainly makes each one unique!

So then you just need to make a big box full of arcade parts and tell him that the next time he feels like making something freestyle, he can just as long as he uses the parts in the box to make it. ;)

lol, i agree with arthur, Give me a bunch of joysticks, buttons and maybe a junk wire harness maybe throw in a coin door and locks then see what he comes up with..
then BAMM !!! More arcade art !!
