Arcade-Shop sells a "programmable" multi-pcb. Updates seems few and far between. Just curious if there was a survey to find out which games people would like to see added?

I kick this off with...

GYRUSS !!!!

Please, oh please, get Gyruss.

.

Q*Bert.

Also these 2 features would be be the best...

1) Keep high scores on reprogram.

2) Option to stay in one game (without reverting to the menu), unless player 1 and 2 were pressed. I hate that you can't watch the attract mode!

Ok, my wish list:

Universal games: Ladybug, Cosmic Avenger
Taito games: Alpine Ski, Zoo Keeper, Elevator Action, Jungle Hunt
Eyes
Bump 'n' Jump
Atari System 1 games: Marble Madness, Indiana Jones
Some of the Exidy public domain released games: Side Trak, Teeter Torture, Spectar, Fire One
Ditto on Qbert and Tapper
Tazmania

Games dependant on spinners might be possible for people whom want to rig them up using only one axis of the trackball support, so on that note I'll add:
Tron
Break Out
Kick Man
Crater Raider
Rip Cord (now public domain)
Circus (now public domain)

I asked Steve about both Gyruss and Qbert.

Here is a quote:

I asked:

Any NON-VS titles [coming out soon] Steve? VS on vertical monitors isn't really too desirable though I'll check out SMB. Gyruss... Scramble... Super Cobra... Time Pilot... Xevious... Qbert... classic vertical games... those are the games that people want really. The 4 you've released already aren't worth taking a game already on the board away to stick on if you get my drift....

...any progress on the compression front so we can get more games on the board at a time by chance?

His repsonse:

Some of the games you list take too much processing power or RAM. Q-bert was always on my wish list but not added due
to the need of an eight way joystick, which games like Ms Pac-Man/Pac-man are nearly impossible to play with. As for compression its already implemented and unless a new compression algorithm comes along which isn't slow, its maxed.
I agree, some of the VS games aren't the best choice, but the driver for running the games is the same so you can add all
these games and won't have to sacrifice too much.

I responded that there are already other 8 way games (Zaxxon, Super Zaxxon, most of the VS titles coming out including Super Mario Bros) that use an 8 way stick. I've not gotten a response back.

oh forgot about Q-Bert not being on the board already. I wonder if they will be coming out with another generation of board to handle better games?

.

I assume that Q*Bert was in the original plan, because elements from the game appear on the multicade overlay (see attachment). I hope this isn't being held up because of the 4-way/8-way issue. Add the game and let me worry about how to add the control. =) There are plenty of 4-way/8-way switchable joysticks out there.

Is Q*Bert a true 8-way, anyway? If memory serves, isn't it just a 4-way joystick rotated by 45 degrees?

You are correct and from a programming point of view, that would be an easy formula to convert an 8-way into a rotated 4-way at a 45 degree angle.

1) Konami's to bring parity and then some with the 48/60's: Time Pilot, TP84, Amidar, Scramble, Super Cobra, Circus Charlie, The End, Gyruss

2) MCR games: Tron, Satan's Hollow, Tapper first, then Kick(man) and the rest. (If JROK could build a replacement for MCR sets, I'd be the first in line for one!!)

3) Jungle King/Jungle Hunt/Pirate Pete.

4) All the Universal games: LadyBug, Space Panic, Cosmic *, etc..

5) Missing's, but simple ones from the 48/60's: Bomb Jack, Congo Bongo, Crush Roller/Make Trax, King and Balloon, Juno First, Pleiads, Xevious

Most importantly: Enable RLE or some other type of fast compression in the flash memory to allow you to get more games in at once.

Also: Improve the programmer software to show you % memory used as you are selecting games or show the size next to the game title and then let you sort by size to see what you can put in.

Finally: Enable an option to give vertical-style menu theme to the horizontal, or at least let you remove the "MULTI WILLIAMS" logo and the over-done bezel with all the williams art and give more room for the marquee and screenshot.

Thanks everyone...

This is the type of information I was looking for. Hopefully these suggestions are being viewed. I might forward this thread to ArcadeShop.com so they will know we like their board but see a need for improvements (which only helps sell more of their product vs taking the cheaper way out with a 60-n-1)

Thanks again everyone
