got my arcadeshop power adapter today no instructions.. looks pretty straight foward but i have a few questions..

looks like its made to slide into the power supply terminals directly.. has anybody done it this way? kind of scares me as the whole board then would be supported just by those terminals. Or have you prefered to mount the board remotely and use spade??terminals to connect to it?

As far as grabbbing ac power i assume a switched ac before the iso is acceptable to power the new power supply?

thanks. dumb questions i know but i just want to make sure. I dont need to create any new headaches with this damn tron..

Better make sure the terminals on the PS you use have the same spacing and pinout as the adapter. ;)

you could always solder wires onto the board and then connect them to the switcher. personally i don't really like their design on these adapters, as they don't really fit well onto the switchers. i had one in my wizard of wor that worked well but i never felt it really made a lot of contact surface wise on the p/s. i prefer the wizzes workshop style.

i also got the heavy duty happ ps.. one of them matched pinout and also spacing was dead on.. they should have cut the power pcb with a knotch in the center so that it could slide in further...

i went ahead and did it directly, at least for now. I had to see if that was gonna fix my issues. Im happy to report that it did and tron is now 100% functional again. amazing what happens when you supply the pcbs with a clean 5v versus 4.1 lol i cleaned uo and rebuilt that mcr powerboard but apparently something took a krap on it...

THis new setup will do for now. Im sure i will re-mount it later.. i need to get in there at some point and clean up my hack wiring re-do for ther audio but yeah man she lives.. hoipefully now itll stay living cuz im sick of messing with the damn thing :D

also wiz is basically out of the ps adapter biz.. i think he sold the design to arcadeshop..at least according to his site.

Yes... and that's why it's a poor design....

Also the fact that if you screw the terminals down too tightly, you'll crack the PCB...

It works well and when i ask to buy stuff from arcadeshop, i actually can, so it worked out just fine for me. They did a nice solder job on it too. Personally if i was making them id modify that pcb with metal spades on it to slide in further(so its stronger) and sell it attached via metal brackets to a ps thats literally ready to plug and play. Would be neat if it came with a t-harness to grab switched ac from one of the lights(back scenery light would be best i think) to really make it "plug and play" instead of having to do hacking with scotch locks
