Yes you do have to download and "program" the roms into the board. Programmable just means you can add games WHEN they make the game compatible.

Firzzlefried will be along shortly to lay a big cleaveland steamer on this. He's the expert on this board lol

I think everyone here is well versed on the lack of after the purchase support given to these boards. No need for me to even mention the insanely high price or the fact that once you've been bent over and loosened up a bit they stick you for the serial cable and power supply to program these things. I mean, at almost $400 who'd have thunk to include such mandatory items in the original purchase price when you can give the deep-shaft to your customer base one, no two more times.

Nah... no need for my input.

Not to open a can of worms with Fred, but I have bought several. One for myself and I built 2 others which I sold.

I like them. There are over 40 games, the programming is simple, and there are lots of options for each game. I played with several boards before I bought this one. Most of the boards I tested had timing issues. You would move the joystick and the computer reacted a 1/4 second later. It just wasn't the same as the real thing. This timing on the Arcadeshop board seems right on to me. Also, the board can be programmed for either horizontal or vertical games.

Now the negatives.......the price was kinda high, and the length of time between updates is kinda long. There have been a few bugs, but they seem to get them worked out as time goes by. The bugs were minor in my opinion, such as not turning the screen around for a two player game on a cocktail cabinet.

All in all, I've been satisfied. If there is a better board out there that does as much as this one, with a better price, I'm all ears.
