Hi everyone,
I have recently purchased two upright games in Florida on eBay. I live in Ohio. I called Beltmann Logistics, which is a branch of NAVL specializing in shipping amusement machines to get a quote on shipping. They told me it would be $530! I have had two games shipped through them before, and it wasn't nearly as expensive.

Does anyone have any good leads on who I should try to maybe get a rate on shipping that may not be completely exorbitant? I'm halfway ready to saddle up and drive down there to get them myself if it won't cost so much damn money...

I hate to say it, but that matches most of my shipping estimates. They go by weight and I've never been estimated less than 250 for a single machine...

That's a terrible quote. I had two full sized pins shipped from AZ to OR and it cost me $409.20.

Yep, $530 for both sounds about right.

Now, I recall a buddy of mine posting some info that might make it a little cheaper:

a) Business delivery is usually cheaper than residential delivery, so he printed up a sign that said something like "Bob's Arcade Repair" and stuck it in his front yard on the day of the delivery. The driver never questioned it.

b) Lift gates add extra fees, so he arranged to have several friends over on the day of the delivery to help get it out of the truck without a need for a lift gate.

Those two things may save you some decent money.

He also recommends using:

it's alot cheaper getting it sent to a terminal and going there to pick it up yourself...find yellow freight or a company like that, locate the terminal that is closest to you, have it sent there then go get it from them

Precision Transportation gave me the best quote between last week and today, I couldn't get a hold of Michelle, but called the 877 number and talked with Judy. It's still costing me a little, but for door to door, it'll be $332 for my Championship Sprint from Green Bay to here. Other companies:
-UPS Freight(over 150lbs.) = $365
-YRC = $622
-NAVL = never returned my call with the quote, lost my business.

Thought you all might be interested in an update regarding my shipment. I am having it shipped through YRC via freightquote, terminal to terminal. The guy I bought the games off of was nice enough to agree to drop the games off at his terminal in Pensacola. The rate dropped from the neighborhood of $500 and up having it picked up and dropped off residence to residence with a liftgate to a little under $290!!!

I just saved over $200 by doing it this way.

And that's still shipping class 125 on two 4x4 pallets!

Bottom line; terminal to terminal costs hundreds less!

I just got a quote from Spee Dee Delivery for shipping a Space Wars from Diller Nebraska to St. Cloud, MN. If the driver doesn't have to help load or unload it, they'll do it for $74.77. Only catch is it must be on a pallet. If the driver helps load, price jumps to $92.86.

Re: NAVA

What? LOL

Sorry, I have to laugh if you guys can't get ahold of them. You don't ask for Michelle. You press #2 when you dial 18009598880. That's it. You always speak to someone (unless it is 12-1pm CST or before 9am after 5pm CST) I've never had them not be there during those hours and I get a quote in 2 minutes.

shipping to a loading dock is always cheaper. I had them ship my Galaga to my work so it would be cheaper. Was only like $85 after a 80% discount.

You sir, are my hero. I was about ready to arrange shipping through Precision, and then I checked out Spee-Dee. Instead of costing me about $350, it'll run around $110. Looks like a good service for the Midwest, as long as the seller is willing to wrap up the machine before pick up.

Lesson learned, Phet you might be alright since you mentioned that you were going to pallet the game. Do not allow Spee-Dee Delivery to do it. The rep I talked to assured me that they will take care of it all, if needed. They sadly, do not deliver on their word. Check out my thread about them in the neg feedback section, pics included of how they "handle" machines.

Nope I had the seller do it. He gave me updates before during and after they picked it up. I'll see tomorrow. Yours looks like it was dropped. The separation of the panels leads me to believe that. I hope mine arrives in good shape. I have used them once before and everything went perfectly.

You will probably be fine then Phet, on the plus side, it does fire up all the way around. Just don't leave it to them, as I said, a lesson learned for me today. I'll have to look at it over the weekend to see how bad it really is.
