So in an effort not to destroy my pacman I have done the following. I have an original pacman I installed a Arcade SD PCB with a pac to jamma adapter from Mike's arcade. All original wiring is in tact, and I built a nice multicade control panel with additional buttons, a wico 8 way stick and a track ball. I made a tap to get power to the power supply off the monitor that powers the adapter.

Everything was very plug and play and it's been a fun game without destroying the ability to convert back some day if I wanted to. My last piece is connecting the trackball. I know the pin out is essentially up, down, left, right, +5 and ground. What would be the least invasive way to connect this? Could I jumper the track ball directions off the joystick, then connect +5 and ground to the power supply?

There looks like there is opportunity to solder directly to the adapter, but it's not labeled. So I'm not 100% sure where to connect. Picture attached.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Arcade sd trackball runs off player 2 connections. As you are using a Pac-Man there are no player 2 connections so I am thinking you would wire directly to the adapter solder points on the Jamma side.

Thank you! That's what I did and got it working great. Trying to figure out what wire was up / down / left / right on the track ball was a bit challenging. Works perfectly!

Hey, I want to do the same thing. Do you have a photo of the finished product? Thanks!!

I wanted to have a connector instead of soldering the trackball wires to the JAMMA adapter board, so I soldered wires in the through holes and used a little breadboard I had. I used the existing holes for nylon standoffs to make it easier to access. Works great and I can easily disconnect the control panel if needed.

Nice, a molex connector would also work

Yes, I was just using stuff I had on hand, also I'm never sure the size on those things. Is there a chart somewhere to help in ordering them? -- probably on the molex site...
