Coin-op and CV PacMan (a homebrew entitled "PacMan Collection")

That homebrew one is nice. He translated the arcade code, so it plays with the same patterns, logic, etc. as the arcade. The cart also includes Ms Pac and a Pac-Man Plus (as an easter egg.)

Yeah, the DK one is coming along nicely. I saw it last year, along with the Pac-Man collection. He had them on display at the Midwest Gaming Classic. The DK didn't have sound yet, but was fully playable.

But holding that damn controller at a 45 degree (and who remembers which way) kind of cramps your hand.

As far as I can remember, ALL home versions of Qbert required you to rotate the controller 45 degrees CLOCKWISE for the input directions to be correct. Looking at mouse trap, you would think the original arcade machine was based on Coleco hardware! Even the arcade font matches the standard/generic lettering of the Colecovision. This thread makes me want to go into my storage in the basement under the stairs and dust off my old console. That is, the Colecovision console that I purchase about 10 years ago, the last time that I itched to play one...

I still have my Coleco from when I was a very small child, like 3 years old. It was my parents and I dusted it off recently. Hadn't played it in over a decade. I was sitting there kind of shocked how well most of the games held up. My favs are probably Pepper II and Ladybug. They both still played very well. My friend owns a video game store here and I wiped him out of Coleco recently. I got the Baseball controllers as well which look ridiculous.

When the Coleco came out I was awed by it's graphics. (Had a 2600 then).
I totally hated the lousy controls though. It was way too big (those useless keys) and the stick itself was a joke. I also hated the Intellivision controls. Maybe I was spoiled owning a Suzo all-leaf competition pro joystick....

I definitely wanted a Coleco though...until I played Donkey Kong on an Atari 600 XL..... all 4 levels and playing SO fluently.....it sold the system for me and never regretted it.

That re-make of DK for the Coleco looks impressive.

But if you want to see some real hardware power you should check out the remake project for Space Harrier for the Atari 8 bit computers:

Remember people, this is 1979 technology at work...
How he's doing so many, such big sprites on one screen at a time at this pace AND putting out music AND speech without delay is beyond me...

Looks like it's almost ready by the way, check out the site: http://sheddyshack.co.uk/

That's pretty damn impressive.

I still have my Colecovision that I bought when I was 12 with money saved up from my paper route. My favorite games were Centipede and Mr. Do. I actually had a stand alone ADAM that my parents threw out one day, so that is long gone. I played some stuff the other day and it still works rather well. I always thought that the Colecovision kicked some major ass compared to the 2600. I remember when Coleco went under and I was crushed. Of course I also remember being stunned that practicing games on Colecovision didn't help me at all in the arcade.
