Hi,
Just thought some of you might be interested in my windows Patching program for Arcade Roms. It has patches for 285 rom sets covering 78 different games.
A significant number of these are for High Score Saving as well as Freeplay, Flip Screen and conversions. It is available on the UKVac forum http://www.ukvac.com/forum/arcade-rom-patcher-v3_topic363397.html
It is simpler for me to only monitor this one location for issues etc. There is no charge for the program or the patches, though if you use it a small donation would be nice, even a $1 adds up which means more boards and more patches. I only put patches in that I have been able to try on real hardware.

Here is a quick list of whats built in:

You probably need a ukvac account :)

GadgetFreak, thanks for sharing all this work. I don't have a WinPC at the moment to try it on but I downloaded it anyway.

The Atari System 1 patch intrigues me most, this allows you to swap multiple (MM, IJ, PP, RR, RB) boards and keep scores over time?

These are great! I have a CPS1 Magic Sword with a dead C-board (CPS-B-13 I think?) that I would love to patch so that I could use a CPS-B-21 board instead. I would happily give a contribution/donation for that. I looked into using software like IDA PRO to try and patch the ROM myself, but it was a bit beyond my skills. I am more of a hardware guy than a software guy unfortunately... :)

Sorry about this. You probably will need an account, it's free though.
I am trying to keep the releases and discussion/problems people may have in one place or it will become a nightmare to manage.

Yes, you basically swap out the 2804 for a 2816 then with my patched main board roms it will use a separate area for each of the 5 different cartridges settings & scores.

As soon as I find a bit of spare time I will take a look, should be quite straightforward having done quite a few of the other CPS1 games already. My patched versions will auto detect the C board on startup so once done it won't matter which of the non batteried C boards you plug in.

You will be pleased to know that I have just updated the program and included all versions of Magic Sword with my Auto C Board code. I just hope you have a spare C board handy.

Question: the patched roms that are output by this program get programmed as .bin files? I'm also attempting the deprotect patch of the magic sword roms and i can write the files just fine but they don't work at all.

Yes, they are binary files, no different to eprom files used in Mame or read in by a programmer. One obscure thing that may be causing you an issue is that you should not try and patch roms files if they are in a folder on the main Windows boot drive which is usually C drive. I've never had the issue but have had reports of it not working due to some kind of Windows protection for the System Volume.
Also I presume you are trying to burn the files with the extension '.pacthed' ?
Also I am upto Version 11 these days with patches for 427 rom sets, 108 different games.
