i have two incredibly nice vector games in need of an experienced tech. Star Wars and Star Trek. both previously worked and are now blowing fuses. Does anyone know of a REPUTABLE tech with VECTOR Experience in the phoenix metro area - Wells 6100 and electrohome G08 monitors....although i fairly certain with each game the monitor is not the issue.

Not Interested in Phoenixarcaderepair.com. As far as im concerned they have a bad reputation and their website is full of red flags. Especially the Star wars repair. the monitor they claim to have repaired claerly has issues with the convergence. ive called and talked with the guy and he said he would call me back and never did which is another bad sign... not even doing business yet and they guy broke his word. I dont mean to sound like an ass, im actually i really easy going guy. i just dont want to deal with any jokers....need a real tech who knows what he's doing.

Please help. Im willing to pay good. i need these damb games fixed!

I am not an experienced tech on vector games. There are others with far more experience but I have fixed a few star wars games.

I have seen foam used to prevent the back of the boards from coming into contact with the back of the cage. When foam becomes old it becomes sticky and sometimes conductive.

The filter board sometime shorts out. I seen this before too. The fix was to remove the board and plug the harness directly into the board.

Good luck in repairing your games.

Don't have the time anymore

I wish I hade the time to troubleshoot but I just dont. I now have 3 kids, one on the way, and a more than full time Corp job. I just don't have spare time to "play" around trying to fix. At this point I just need someone to do the repair. Any takers . I'm willing to pay well .

If i were closer I would get the Star Wars going. Not a lot of people around that work on the G08's though. I would be willing to help you over the phone on the Star Wars if you wanted. Not sure what that would really do for you. When you say blowing fuses, I take it you mean on the deflection boards of the monitors. The only other thing you can really do is send off the monitor board and high voltage cage and game boards for testing/repair. You would have to do convergence on your own though.

Re: Phoenixarcaderepair.com

seems i may have been a little quick to judge this repairman - contacted him and seems we had a miscommunication re: who would call back who. going to give it another go and hope for the better. happy to swallow my pride and eat crow on this one. just wish my games would work

Forum user Komodo works on vector monitors.

Whoever you get to do the repairs MUST go through the FAQs and do the modifications recommended for each to make them as reliable as possible.

Can you post a link to the faqs and mods????

I would like to read them while waiting on parts and scope probes. Not much else to do 'til mail gets here.

Give it another go? We never even had a chance to begin with. Its funny how a negative posting will make someone sign up to contribute to a Forum and represent our firm.

And yes we perform most mods to make our 6100 rebuilds bulletproof as possible. Weve had some out there for a few years now with no issues. It depends on the piggyback board, zeners exsiting config etc.

All in all we are glad to help out and we cant wait to get that ST working. Thanks Dick.

Welcome to the forum!

Glad to hear you perform most of the mods to bulletproof the 6100 monitors. That shows you want to make sure you do repairs that last. :D

Update

We had hoped Dick would have update his original post but since its been a while I wanted to get to it considering this original post was full of doubt regarding our work.

We received the unit on the 10th, turned and burned this on the 13th.

After rebuilding common failed parts, ceramics etc, 3 TO8s, Smoked Rectifiers, Neck work, Zener Updates, as well as a replaced Molex to HV cage that was hanging by a thread, we were able to adjust this unit out the best we could.

I guess some are hot to post negative issues, but not so hot to rectify once completed.

This tube has got to be the clearest we have ever seen. Once we were told by Dick that it wasnt working since 06 I guess it saw little use the last 5 years.

Hey P.A.R.

Nice to see you on the forums. Since we have you here...any chance you can stop spam posting craigslist? Pretty please? Or at least use the name of your company in all of your posts so we can filter you out when we are not looking for repair?

Thx

First of all we are not SPAMMING CL. We want to post in the dealer ONLY category in electronics and all of the CL fruitcakes flag our 1 single ad at a time. We NEVER post more than on ad at a time EVER.

Our name is in every post, as well as our number Phoenix Arcade Repair, or 602-574-6202

We also usually show games for sale etc. So if you can filter us out that is great. Our target market is not DIYers. We have every right to post, and if we get flagged we repost our single ad and we probably wont stop. Its funny, we dont get much for work off CL because of the caliber of persons using it, but primarily to keep our SEO ranking up!

Most of the folks off CL dont have much money and or are looking for deals. They dont want repair or machines with warranties.

Thanks for your concern and I hope the name and number filter helps your CL adventures.
Thanks

Not necessarily more appropriate, but definitely more akin to the other posts I see a lot of around here. Kudos to you for taking the high road.

You up for a 25" k7400 repair? I have one that's haunted.
