As usual, sorry for the late notice... the best date has been bouncing around for the last couple weeks, but it looks like it's gonna have to be the Saturday the 5th. Similar to the last repair day, and like the repair mornings before my parties... bring anything you want to work on and we'll spend some time troubleshooting it, and hopefully fix it :). Or even if you just want to learn how to do a cap kit... bring a monitor and a cap kit and we can teach you. And if you just want to hang out and learn something, you're welcome to do that as well.

I'm planning on starting it around 11AM at my house in Manassas Park, VA, and it'll go as late as you guys want to hang around. We'll probably just order pizza or something around noon. I can fire up the arcade as well if anyone wants to play some games, but the focus of the day will definitely be repairing stuff... and if we need to, some games may be pulled out to test stuff (i.e. testing/fixing Nintendo boards in my DK Jr. cab).

Also, I've been working on some new troubleshooting tools, which will hopefully be ready by then, and hopefully help fix stuff.

Anyway, let me know if you're interested in coming... and if you know, let me know what you're bringing so I can try to have the proper adapters, repair info, etc... or let you know anything specific that you'd need to bring. And of course I'll send you my address/ph #/directions if you need them.

I might actually be able to make it to this one! I have a pro-grade degaussing coil I can bring if it would be helpful, though I'm guessing you probably already have one. If I do come I'll bring my Space Invaders cocktail, which works for a few minutes if you tweak with an adapter on the main board and then shuts off in ten minutes or so... sigh.

Sounds good!

Well I'll certainly try...I'd like to cap my G07. I dunno if I can pull it off. Will you be having another one soon?
This will probably be the last for a while... if you do come, definitely bring that Asteroids board back. That bothers me that we couldn't get that fixed... and I've been working on some code for a portable logic analyzer that I've got that should definitely help troubleshoot it.

I missed the last one and would like to make it to this one.

I can bring my rejuvinator along. Also would like to bring my Omega Race PCB along I've got it to about 95% working.

Sounds good! I've got a BK470, but you're welcome to bring yours if you'd like. 95% Omega Race board... what does/doesn't it do? I actually have an Omega Race cab in my garage that we could probably use to test. Otherwise the cockpit is in the basement.

Just a quick reminder bump... and I've got a couple cool new tools that'll hopefully help with troubleshooting/repair. I'll post about them in the next day or so.

Wow

Now thats a really cool thing to do.would love it if someone around here would do that..

Don't know if I can make it or not, but will see.... I'd like to bring my asteroids and tempest board again if you don't mind.... Oh and wanna take a look at my Virtual Boy and fix the display? All of the sudden my left eye-piece is getting glitchy, and I don't really feel inclined to open it myself to fix it yet.

I've got a centipede and 2 millipede boards i'd like to test out, any way to do that?

Yeah, we can definitely look at the Asteroids and Tempest. And I'd be glad to fix the VB display(s), though it's pretty delicate work... it's much easier to do in my chair at my rework station. I'll see if I can redo a couple displays before Saturday, then just swap them for you.

I've got a Centipede mini that we can plug the Centipede board in... I'm not sure how hard it is to make an adapter to play Millipede in there, but I'll check it out. Some day I'd like to put a Multipede in my mini, so an adapter would be ideal for that. If not, we should be able to test it on the bench.

I will try to make it. I have a v2000 and a newer WG monitor with a strange issue I cant figure out that I will try to bring.

Cool... any idea what the model of the WG is, and what the strange issue is?

Appears I will make it (99%) but it will be around 2pm ish, I got a few obligations in the morning.
Sounds good!

I wish I could come! I could use some help with a monitor that should be working and a Crane machine PCB repair.

Darn it! I know I can't come!

anyone out there that can fix my Crane Machine pcb? I have the schematics.

I don't know of anyone that repairs crane PCBs... I think most people just replace them with universal ones, since documentation is usually hard to come by. But if you have the schematics, that's a great start. I'd guess most people don't have a testbench that makes testing them convenient, so testing in the actual cabinet would be required.

Do you have a repair thread on it, detailing what's wrong, pics, etc?

I haven't had that much time to really dig into it to start fixing it. Just too darn busy right now.

I was thinking of a universal board but decided against it for 2 reasons. First, there is sound like Asteroids. It speeds up when the time is running out. Second, there is a light flash sequence around the marque. I am pretty sure the universal board doesn't handle that.

Last that I can remember is that the display showed errors which I forget what they are. The carriage didn't move or only moved in one direction. Maybe it wouldn't return home. Man it has been way too long!

This is a VERY admirable thing you're doing and great for the hobby, sharing of knowledge and building friendships. Wish I had the knowledge to offer something like this around here. Hopefully others will feed on this idea.

Kudos to you.
