Arcade Party: Saturday 10/15/11 - Northern VA

I will be there. I am bringing a tempest board and an Asteroids board to work on, as I got my Asteroids monitor working about a hour ago. Tempest needs someone to look at, and Asteroids needs someone who can solder well to finish replacing a RAM chip for me. I got the bad chip mostly removed but it needs to be finished out.

we are fixing my asteroids cab in his garage now so testing all the boards that are coming will be easy.

i will have my desoldering/soldering station there so doing cap kits and replacing chips will be easy to do.

i will also have a 19" and a 25" k7000 tube with me if any body brings a chassis to work on. plus all the caps to do a complete cap kit even the filter caps.

Peace

Alright... getting pumped for another day of fun! (and fixing stuff)

Bah... sleep is overrated. I'll sleep when I'm dead. ;)

BTW, Pinball Wizard: You're welcome to bring the Tempest board, but I don't think we'll be able to do any live testing/troubleshooting on it. I checked the pinout, and it needs funny voltages which my testbench doesn't have... and I really don't want to tear apart the arcade before the party (Tempest isn't convenient at all to get into). We can still look for obvious problems like bad solder joints, burnt components, etc. though... and if you know what it does/doesn't do, we can test components and I could hopefully point you in the right direction.

Dog P, YOU have a fantastic arcade set up there. I would be very proud to have such a setup.

Good job. Man, I wish I could see it in person.

Just wanted to say thanks again Pat for an awesome time and allowing the wife and I to bask in the glory that is your gameroom. Thanks to you my search begins for three more new games. lol I love that Gorf and Omega race cockpit!!!

Thanks Pat. Had a great time. And your arcade is awesome. Someday I'll have something similar I hope. High Score champ on the few times I played Omega Race even if it was only 59,000.

thank you Pat!

Good times today Pat and everyone who came. I got there at 9:15a.m. and there was already a crew there set up working on games! Buffett helped me bring my space invaders into the garage (huge help!!!) and Pat had it working before 11:00a.m.! I learned some new things and got to practice my soldering skills (thanks Buffett teaching me some technique and making me do it myself).

I'm really impressed with your guys knowledge and the arcade was rockin of course! I included a few pics from the repair portion of the day.

I'm glad (I think) everyone had a good time, and thanks for the compliments on the arcade. I had an awesome time... it's always fun hanging out talking to fellow arcade enthusiasts. And I think I played a few games too. ;)

I'm glad we were able to get at least some of your guys' stuff working during the morning. Sorry if anyone was hoping to play the Star Wars cockpit... unfortunately it crapped out when we fired up the arcade, and it was too late to pull it out to try troubleshooting. :(

Be on the lookout for another post on the next arcade repair day... I'm hoping to have an all day repair day next... probably sometime in November (5th or 12th are looking to be the best candidates). 3 hours just goes by too quickly.

ill probally have to wake you up again.:D
Heh, I did actually get up at 8:56 this morning... I'm not sure if my alarm just finally woke me up, or if I heard you unloading stuff from your truck. ;)

Dog P, YOU have a fantastic arcade set up there. I would be very proud to have such a setup.

Good job. Man, I wish I could see it in person.
Thanks! If you're ever in the DC area... you're welcome to drop by and hang out/play some games.

late but on my way with my dkjr board and possibly a bally squawk & talk board
Sorry we didn't get to those... let me know if the volume does/doesn't help on the squawk & talk... and if you make it to the next repair day, I can have the bench or cab set up for testing Nintendo boards.

Please tell me somebody knocked off one of Lonnie's high scores on my behalf. :D
Hmm... I know someone knocked him off some of the Megatouch high scores. Unfortunately, nobody knocked him off Paperboy, which are the scores he defends so strongly.
