Hello all!

We are Joystick Gamebar and we are needing someone with monitor expertise to help with three different games that have various degrees of monitor craziness.

- NBA Jam 's left side is faded out.
- Street Fighter II is experiencing a lesser degree of the same fade on the left side but in more of a bar fashion.
- Lethal Enforcers sometimes has vibrating horizontal black lines across the middle and the upper left hand side cuts out, although the guns still work properly.

We are located in downtown Atlanta at 427 Edgewood Ave.
Email us: [email protected]
Call us: 404-525-3002

Thank you so much for any help!!

NBA JAM and Street Fighter are showing typically symptoms of failing capacitors, time for a cap kit.

As for Lethal Enforcers, a picture may help diagnose the situation.

I agree with Gutz diagnosis. If you do not do your own cap kit installations, perhaps consider one of the repair centers who do. (PNL). With tube monitors becomming a thing of the past, we have pretty much started replacing most all troubled monitors with flat screens. They are very reasonable in price and typically fairly easy to install. The finished product is awesome and much better resolution. Depending on the game, you may need a VGA CGA covverter board. Holland Computer is a good source for these. Less that $40. Hope you get your games up and running soon.

i would find out what chassis you have.

take some pics so we can ID them for you.

from what you are describing it sounds like you have K7000's.

i would not recommend either of those to places.

i have seen some of their work and it makes me cringe.

have them repaired/serviced correctly and not worry about them going down again.

Peace
Buffett

I agree with Buffett - do NOT go with P & L. I've fixed more of their "fixes" than I can count.

If those are K7000 monitors I can get them back up-and-running, and quickly. I don't require the tubes, just the chassis. PM me and we'll talk. My rates are very reasonable.

After 28 years now of doing monitor repairs, here's what I can help you with.....

*** if K7000 - Change 47uf/160volt cap located by top of pcb ( pretty sure it's C59 )***

- Street Fighter II is experiencing a lesser degree of the same fade on the left side but in more of a bar fashion.
*** SAME AS ABOVE ***

- Lethal Enforcers sometimes has vibrating horizontal black lines across the middle and the upper left hand side cuts out, although the guns still work properly.
*** Never seen this one hapen ***

Thank you all so much!

From what we know about capacitor kits, we will undoubtedly fry ourselves into oblivion if we try to change them ourselves. If anyone does this professionally (or is just super good at it), we'd love to talk with you about coming in and helping us out.

As it usually happens, the Lethal Enforcers problem is sporadic and once we asked for help it magically cleared itself so I can't take a picture of it. But definitely will if (when) it happens again.

Again, thank you!
