Very nice arcade in McLean IL (near Bloomington). About 40 games including 6 pinballs. Could have spent more money and time there but 5 hr drive drained us. Wish I spent less time on Addams Family and try all the games but oh well. Here are some pics. The little man played his first pinball game here. He LOVED Atari Pinball.

That is a very cool place to check out. It's almost funny that something so cool could be found in the middle of nowhere Illinois. Great selection of games and the owner is very nice, he opened the arcade just for me.

I liked the Arcadia sign hanging out front. John was at the auction that day so didn't get to meet him.

The owner is a fellow klover. The next time im down to see troy in decatur im going to make the trip to mclean as well and get my game on.

Ill be in Bloomington for a week soon for business, bout how far away is it?

visited again tonight, this time with my wife. last stop on a ten day vacation to florida and a music festival in memphis. john was kind enough to leave it open late for us, we made it to town around 8 and played for three hours.

Did he fix anything in there? Went there this past spring, tron's joystick was so loose it was unplayable, omega race cockpit did not work, berserk's batstick had issues and made tha game unplayable, battle zone only 1joystick worked, etc...

You can see where I'm going with this. Hopefully they were fixed and you had a good time.

I know that I will not waste my time if I am in that part of the world again.

4 games had issues out of 50? That's a better ratio than any arcade I've ever been visited! :D

He may not know all of those machines have issues. People just don't let everyone at the counter know about that and as far as I know Vectorman (the one who owns the museum) only has that place open by appointment or Fri/Sat/Sun with minimal hours...

You don't know how many times people won't say anything to us about pinballs (the most volatile) or joysticks not working or buttons not working.

everything worked great. couple games didnt work and were turned off. asteroids and tapper had some small graphic issues, a couple pins had a handful of burnt out lights, other than that i noticed no problems. overall the games were far cleaner and worked better than the arcades i remember from back in the day.

i know that i will waste my time there any time i am in that part of the world again.

This is exactly the way I felt when I went to Galloping Ghost. Stopped at Rossi's Arcade and Pizzaria and had a similar issue with a few of the games. As I stop in to most arcades, I keep finding this to be a recurring theme.

Then I remember, these are commercial locations. We are spoiled as collectors, as we walk into our arcades and everything works, or we are OK with what isn't currently working. If something has a problem, we just start tearing into it. Businesses can't always do this, and many of these places have a tough time just staying open without spending all of their time trying to keep every machine in perfect condition.

Support your local arcade, consider offering to volunteer a few hours to help if you can. When you stop, enjoy the experience for what it IS, not what it ISN'T.

John's a great guy. He opened up the arcade on Sunday...right after church!...for my fiancé and I. I was able to show her what it was all about and she really enjoyed herself despite a few games not working. That didn't phase either of us.

Hell, Tbbk and I were wishing we were at John's place when we were at the "BIG" 80s weekend. I would've had a lot more fun with his selection of games.

Where's your arcade so I can inspect every game (though I doubt I'll ever visit Michigan)? Damn I hate nitpickers...

EDIT: Looks like John has changed the lineup since I last visited. I remember he mentioned to me that he was going to very soon. Looks like I'll have to pay his museum another visit. :)
