I made a post a a few weeks ago asking if anyone would know why the monitor in a virtua fighter would click on for a few seconds then click off.

I'm still having this issue, i really don't know anything about monitors.. so i have no idea where to start.

Go to college for 4 years and learn about TV repairs then fix it yourself OR send it to someone who has already done that

I had a Nanao that was doing that, sent it in to get fixed and got it back in a little over a week. Turned out to be the built-in ISO or something like that.
Best bet is to send it in for someone to fix.

Sounds like what my Nanao is doing now. It is on its way back to Jomac, so hopefully I'll know what the f'n problem is soon.

Consider yourself warned- that kind of attitude isn't necessary.

have no idea where to start

Kansas City Game Warehouse can fix that for ya
they are over by the coke sign on I-35

those things can give you an awful shock if you dont know what's what

PM member "chiefthunder" and he will fix you up
or
look for their ads on CL

otherwise, saying
if anyone would know why the monitor in a virtua fighter would

is bit like asking "why the engine wont start in my blue car"

you need to identify what monitor chassis it is. try here:

I had the same problem on one of my monitors. After doing a cap kit, it was determined that the glue that was placed on the shutdown pot had somehow made the pot not function correctly. I replaced the shutdown pot and adjusted it in the correct position and I never had the monitor turn off again.

J1ng, I'd be happy to assist you in troubleshooting your monitor from afar. I too, like you, was a total monitor newbie just a year ago, so don't feel bad. You CAN learn how to fix it, if you want to. Just send me a PM and I'll start walking you through the steps.

I don't think your advice is all that Bad,it makes sense to me that education is
important maybe not 4 years.. my tv coarse was only 9 months for tv vcr!!
Ofcoarse for a Masters degree i would need 4years of college.

I say if its your FIRST and LAST monitor repair, send it out for service
and let the pro's do it and they will warranty it too!!
Or If you have a few games that will need repairs then learn to repair them!!
Get the equipment needed and apply common sense along with hands on experience.

I don't think there are any repair schools left that teach analog repair. LOL..
I personaly find the monitors simple to service compared to TV's with many more circuits
that could go wrong. Like sound, tuners,AV inputs, remote issue, progressive scan circuits
I would think any good tv man could know what to look for with any raster scan monitor.
Just my 2cents
