Is the way you play games in the "wild" different from the way you play your games at home? I tend to play more aggressively in an arcade or other setting. I think its because I have a limited number of quarters/tokens with which to play. At home, you can play as long as you want. Out there you have to make it count. Anybody else notice this quirk?

Personally, I have the mindset at my home that I can restart if I made a mistake so I don't really seem to try as hard on live 3. Other than that I don't usually play too differently.

I think I play more aggressively at other people's home arcades. I guess I am hoping at least one of their machines saves high scores so that if I get one, I will always be remembered after leaving. Having your name up in lights as it were. I actually try hard in my own arcade as well, as I don't use continues and I like bettering my last game. It's also cool to have the high score on your own machines, as you will always see that when you power them up. I think I actually suck when I am playing games at a public place, as I really don't care about the outcome. Once i leave and the games are turned off, what did it matter?

The only difference is that, in a home arcade, if I make some stupid mistake and die on level one I just kill myself the remaining times and restart. If I'm spending money to play, I'll keep going as long as possible regardless and hope for a miracle.

Definitely. I also get a big rush from taking down someone else high. In fact a local restaurant has a DK cocktail and I found myself looking at the score and knew I could beat it. :D

I have been rocking out on Addams Family pinball at the local bowling alley lately. I have a tendency to play that one pretty aggressively. The Ms. Pac at the mall has the wrong kind of joystick on it. It has an 8 way microswitch stick in it that not only looks ugly but is hard to control. I have to really watch what I am doing but I can play almost as well as on my machine.

Heh, me too...especially if they have a Tron...there's at least 3 members on here that probably still have my initials on their top score :D

yeah I have done that too with tron, and the good news is:

when I went to Dan's house (p1899m) and put up like 6 or 7 hundred thousand he came back and beat it. And it didn't take that long. I think he beat his former personal best by like 300,000.
