Arcade Machine Auction this month in MN?

Usually people bring a truck. I am going, but I only buy if there is something I really want. You might get a good deal, but most of the time you have to bulk buy. So you may find one game you want, but have to buy 2 others with it....

I was hoping to pick up 2-4 more machines for Rusty Quarters Retro Arcade. I live in Plymouth so the drive isn't a big deal... Hoping for a burgertime or tempest but any other classic will do.

Does anyone know if they auction other vending items? I need a Bill Changer Machine with a $300 Min hopper(s) for the arcade.

If you're talking about the MOMA auction in Maple Grove on the 29th...

There are unlikely to be ANY classics there. If there do happen to be a few, they will be beat to death and sell for far too much money.

I've never seen a change machine at a MOMA auction.

It tends to be a bunch of crappy conversions, and big sitdown games that no one wants.

You can see what sold at past auctions by looking through the database at:

Is there a fee to get into this or,can a guy just get in to check it out =?

It's free. You have to register to bid, which is also free unless you buy something. Anyone can watch. The auction has been good once in the past few years. They bought out some op in Wisconsin and had a bunch of classics, but mostly it is just like it was previously posted. Bad conversions and huge sit down games no one wants. Anything classic goes for a lot of cash, especially when you factor in the approx. 20% bidder premium.

I have actually seen classics at every MOMA auction I have been to. My first year, 2005 or 6, I was just pissed at all the games I wouldn't have time to stay and bid on. I had to catch a plane to Hawaii that afternoon. I put in some written/sealed bids before I left, but the dude prolly threw them away on me. Centipede Cabaret, Centipede cocktail, DK cabaret, Millipede Upright, ect. were just some I remember wanting. I have also been outbid on several classics at these auctions. Dig Dug cabaret, Pacman Cabaret, DK cabaret, Tempest cocktail, Dedicated MKII, ect. I also have scored several items over the last 6 years, but some of my better deals were a Primal Rage for $110, a 720 for $225, a Pigout for $225, and an SI Deluxe for $25. I remember the first 2 years I went were the best years, but you can still get lucky. Now, that being said, I hate when these threads get started cuz they just bring in new bidders who tend to get passionate or amped up and bid up everything they see, making the chances of someone getting a good deal on something they really want almost nil. We basically just go to snag a good deal, then find a place to grab beers and burgers afterward. Last year we had 10-12 people drinking post-MOMA. This year we may hit Blainebrook Bowl afterward.

I seem to remember at least one change machine there last year, maybe a couple.

EDIT
Yep... aren't these change machines?

Except that particular auction (with all the classics) that was held in August of last year was completely unrelated to the annual MOMA auction. (other than being held in the same location)

The MOMA auction is always held in October (except for some back in the 90s that were held in November). To see what sold at past MOMA auctions, go to:
http://www.sos5.com/~johns594/auc.php
Under "select event", scroll down to the Minnesota listings and look for the ones held in October or November.

I wish that the MOMA auctions were like that one last August! Other than the games being covered in varmint crap, that one was a lot of fun.

Ill be there. I don't plan on buying anything and I never have bought anything at the auctions but you never know. Unfortunately im looking for a Star Wars. Chances on seeing another Star Wars that's not all full of bird shit, non-working, in need of a major restoration are pretty slim. See everyone Saturday the 29th sometime around 9:30am.
