My wife and I were driving the other day and she asked me if I saw "the arcade machine in that building that was falling in" I thought she was kidding but she said she thought it had "Dragon" on the side. So I turn around and this is what I found......

Part 2:
I inquired at a nearby restaurant about the owner and was told who he was and about where he lived so I went searching an low and behold he was right where I was told he might be. I spoke to the gentleman (Older guy in his 70's) and he told me I could take anything I wanted from the building as it was coming down. He also told me that a game had fallen through the floor into the basement. There had been no roof over the games for 4+ years and he put them there after he sold his store. My wife and I went back and proceeded to go through the place and what we found was:

1. Dragon's Lair II
2. UB/QB Football
3. A generic basketball game
4. 1991 Data East Batman Pinball (What started the tears)
5. Spider-Man 4 Player (This is what fell into basement)

The games were absolutely rotten/swollen and shot. The roof had fallen in on the pinball and it was to say the least, toast! I managed to scavenge every possible item from all the games, they were so rotten I was able to just pull parts off the cab with no effort like the coin doors. Amazingly the monitors were intact and due to their frames had not touched the ground and most of the water and snow never got to them inside the cabs. I did retrieve the LD player, the laser disk itself (in excellent condition) and every other part of those cabs minus the cab itself.

I will be posting pictures of the take as soon as I get it unloaded. I know there are plenty of stories of abandoned items but to just leave these things in a situation where they will be destroyed is beyond me.

I have to say thanks to my awesome wife for pointing this out to me as it took two hours to go through and we got filthy dirty and cut to hell. We had to stop at a Salvation Army to get some clothes to wear to our original destination (which we were about an hour late for).

Update: The Laserdisk player works!!!

I will be listing most of this stuff for sale so keep and eye out for it in the sale section.

Oh the horror. You have an incredible wife. I would be interested in some of the DL parts as I have wanted one for many years and have decided to just start acquiring the parts for a future build or resto when I find one.

No, they are covered in METH. METH I KNOW METH WHEN I SEE IT METH METH METH METH. DON'T TOUCH THE GAMES METH METH METH.

Whoa, sorry. Flashback to a different abandoned building game thread.

Good save getting the usable parts off of those before they were lost for good.

Very sad about the Batman pin!:(

Especially since I'm still looking for one! Scratch one D.E. Batman out of existence!!!!!

At least you saved what you could. Since it was a complete Dragon's Lair II, it might be worth your while to get a new cabinet made for it, as it is a pretty rare and valuable game. If not, those parts will help other games live. Good job sir!

I don't know if he still has it, but DJ_DNS had a converted Dragon's Lair II cabinet, that he sold me the Crime Patrol parts from that it had been converted to. If you have all the guts, that would be a perfect swap.

Why did you look for the owner? you could've just taken (saved) the games. The building was abandoned and falling down, right?

Oh man, that is one nasty arcade machine! Good job on saving what you could.

I bet it was weird to be able to just rip the coin door straight out of the cabinet!
