Arcade Legends 2 CRT not displaying properly

Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone for their efforts. It is greatly appreciated as I really miss playing this machine.
I change the Parallel Port Mode to "EPP" but upon reboot the system came up that same as it has been. It is very odd that the game boots up on the external monitor as, in the past, the external monitor would always black out when the actual JoshuaOS loaded.
I've removed the motherboard battery and will attempt to setup everything again from scratch and see if I get any different results.
Thanks again. I'll keep you posted.

Well, not sure what else to try. I removed the battery and attempted the BIOS setup again but ended up with the same results. It is frustrating as it is so close to working.

If you have a CGA monitor, then you need to DISABLE parallel port.
Parallel port ENABLED = VGA, which is why you can see it on a computer monitor.

You must have an Arcade Legends 1 or Ultracade. Arcade Legends 2 is a PCB, not a computer.

Thanks for the suggestion!! There is definitely a PC in there. I was excited to give it a try but when I disabled the parallel port there was no change at all. Ugh!!

Im having the same exact issue and tried everything also. Only difference I can see is that I dont have any leds lighting up on the USBLinks board so I think the issue is the board on mine. I ordered a Pi2Jamma and hopefully that works.

Regarding your USBLink, does your sounds and arcade controls work properly?? When mine fully boots up, I hear sound and can navigate with the arcade joysticks and trackball but the video is garbled so I'm pretty sure that the USBLink is working. At least for those two parts. I've not checked the fuses on that board yet. Maybe I'll do that just to check another thing off the list.

Yeah everything works minus the video. I was hoping it was the fuses but I swapped them out yesterday and still the same. I'll keep you posted if I find the problem.

Thanks @ANG312 ! It feels so close to working. Just not sure what I am missing. I double-checked the fuses as well but nothing there.

I got a cheap Jamma board from Amazon plugged it up and still looks the same so for sure its my monitor.

Set your board to standard res (dip switch 2 to off) and try again.
THANKS THAT WORKED! Im guessing I have a bad usblinks board on mine. @Anorak just to test to see if your monitor works grab a cheap board from Amazon. I got this one for $50 I'm returning it tho because I didnt realize its only for vertical screens.

I still think you either have the settings incorrect, monitor needs adjustment, or a combination of both.

Take a picture of:
-back of the monitor chassis
-the monitor plug with the signal wires
-the monitor controller board (in your coin door)

Yes, I believe it is an Arcade Legends 2 but with the Ultracade hard drive swap.

Sorry to mention this so late in the game but I had forgotten since it was so long ago. This system had the hard drive swapped out for the Ultracade hard drive. So I suspect disabling the parallel port to force CGA mode is on track but that did not seem to help. Not sure if/how to set the dip switch 2 with this Ultracade HD swap.

Sooooo, I started playing around again with the parallel port settings. It was set to disabled but for some reason it was still sending VGA signal to the CGA CRT. I enabled it and re-disabled it and did a few reboots. All the sudden it decided to start working! Really wish I knew what actually fixed it in the end as I know the parallel port was disabled but not complaining!!

Thanks to everyone to getting me to the right things to look at!!!

I will say that the video does not seem to look as good as it did. A little washed out and the video test is not perfect. some color distortions. Any thoughts?
